so after noticing for a few nights a high pitched buzz around my bed i finally narrowed it down to my blackberries 9700 charger. when its plugged in, it has this really annoying high pitched screeching sound. when i have my blackberry charging on it though it doesnt make that sound, but when its plugged into the wall without the blackberry charging on it it makes the sound....

anyone noticed this? is this safe, is this a fire hazard?

Sounds like it is defective. The high whistle noise may be something in the circuitry that's bad. I'd swap out the charger. Best case scenario it continues to be annoying, worst case it fries your Blackberry or starts a fire!

my storm 1 charger has been doing this since the day I got it last november. I just have been unplugging it when I am not charging my phone.

Get an OEM charger on ShopCB. Have two of them. One at the office and one at home. No issues.
