I should have mentioned, it's a Sandisk 8gb card... and I've had no luck in getting it to format 8gb.

Neither of these will actually be usable for more than 4 GB until OS 4.3 hits, from everything I have seen.

So since I already have the 4.3 I'll be OK,right? I thought the 4.3 OS has been released. I guess I'm confused, how do I already have a OS that hasn't been launched.....

^ supposedly it will fully work until the os 4.3 update is available. Some people say the 8310 can only read up to 4gb.

I plan on buying one soon.. The only place i know so far that sells the 8gbmicrosdhc is verizon wireless stores and online for 129.99. I havent been able to find out any place that sells it yet.

    Anybody else know?

I was just wondering if someone clarify something for me..

Is it, that the phone will only see or read up to 4gb. I checked it on mine and it basically says in a nut shell. "Total Space: 7.5gb, free space: 4.7gb" Wouldn't that mean I can utilize all 8gb in my phone right now?

I had filled the 8gb microsd with about 2gigs of music and about 1gig of video.

    edit: heres a pic.

Looks to me like your device is working fine, assuming that by "2gigs or memory and about 1gig of video" you mean that you've put 2 GB of some sort of data (pics, music, etc...) and an additional 1 GB of videos onto your media card.

    So:
(8 GB unformatted) - (space taken up by formatting overhead) = 7.5 GB of usable space

2gigs or memory and about 1gig of video = ~3 GB of data

7.5 GB - 3 GB of data = ~4.5 GB of free space

^ thats what I thought too.. I thought maybe something was wrong... Anyways, before I started anything, I formatted the microsdhc in my computer and then started transferring the music and videos through my computer using the "MobileMateSD+" memory card reader that I bought from Verizon.

oops, i meant i filled up the sd card with about 2gigs of music and about 1gig of video.

I bought it from Verizon Wireless stores. It is an 8gb microSDHC. As far as I know, SanDisk is the only 8gb microsd available for purchase and currently only available at Verizon stores. Supposedly there are other companies releasing an 8gb card as well, but have not seen any so far.

They are great (for my dslr camera), but they don't work on the BB because they use microSD cards. SD, miniSD, and microSD are all different.

    Hey Guys,
I found a article on BlackBerry's site regarding supported media card size unfortunately, I am a newbie to this site and can't post the link. The Doc ID is KB05461 if you would like to search the knowledge base.

    To Sum it up:
    Software 4.2.0 - Up to 2GB
    Software 4.2.1 - Up to 4GB
    Software 4.2.2 - Up to 4GB
    Software 4.3.0 - Up to 8GB

I know Silver was successful with 8GB and 4.2, for anyone else having problems here is what is officially supported.
