After talking on the phone with a Verizon "specialist" recently, he mentioned that Micro SD cards with greater than 16 GB storages have been rumoured to already be available for purchase over seas. I really really want more storage for my Blackberry store as my USB drive currently is killing it when it comes to storage and more storage = more possibilities of doing more and putting more stuff on the device. According to this press release from SanDisk, SanDisk Press Release, they will supposedly (hopefully) have 64GB Micro SD cards for purchase in early 2010. According to this article as well, SanDisk Press Release (2), they are planning on having 32 GB Micro SD cards available for purchase later this year. This is the biggest thing the new iPhone 3GS has on the Blackberry Storm right now (in my opinion), so lets fix it. Anyone? Anyone?

Wow, 64gb on something the size of a fingernail? I remember a couple years ago when I bought a 256mb SD card for my camera for 99.. You can get 16gb for 99 now if I'm not mistaken!!

32GB cards are currently supported by anything running 4.6.0 and later.

Multiple movies / Music / Photos and "storage" - you can never have to much RAM.

I have an 8GB and have around 10 movies and 20 TV episodes and it still isn't completely full. How much stuff do you really need? Movies at this resolution don't take up but around 400MB's, TV shows around 80MB.

I have an 8g sd card and I filled it with music, but every time It does the scanning thing it takes forever, because I have plenty of vids, 1000+ songs, and about 300+ wallpapers haha.

    I can't imagine the scanning time on a 32g and can't fathom the thought of a 64g.

I filled my 16GB iPhone, so when I migrated to the BB Tour I bought a 16GB card for that and just copied everything right over. Fortunately, the BB Tour will play all the same AAC and .m4v files the iPhone would, so no conversion was required.

Most of my audio files are 256 kbps or 320 kbps unprotected AAC and most video files are baseline H.264 at 480p.

I could save space on the phone if I recompressed the movies for a lower resolution, but I use the same files on my Apple TV so I'm content to just have one version of each movie that'll play on anything. Flash storage for phones is cheap enough that I don't need to worry about 1.5GB movie files too much.

I agree with this, average scanning on my 16GB card is 9 to 11 minutes. Its not bad if you have patience, but too many CB'ers don't.

I currently have two 16 GB cards (one full and the other with 5 GB left). It really isn't that hard to fill up one of these cards if you have a lot of songs, movie and/or pictures on your computer.

Correct me if I am wrong here - but is the storage space on a memory card considered to be RAM? I am under the impression that storage space and RAM are two different things.

    Peace

you are correct, storage space and RAM are very different things.
the op probably meant storage space, if a sd card could become RAM, well..
that would be cool as ****...but it would also be like a computer using a page file. extra "ram" but much slower....ie disk access is slower...
    cheers

This is just an update for anyone that has been following this forum. SanDisk also announced it will be releasing a 128gb Micro SD card for the year 2011 according to this article: SanDisk Developing 128 GB Micro-SD Card For 2011 Release. No luck for anyone buying Micro SD cards over seas larger than 16gb though? PLEASE if ANYONE has had luck let us all know how and where we all may be able to get one/some!!!

They're also working on 2TB SD cards. Why you'd need 2TB I've no idea- not that anything will support something so high. I'm rather content with 8GB to be honest.

Exactly...it's basically a solid state drive at that point, but anything over 8gb is nuts...
I don't even use anything higher then 8's in my cameras....

If my card in my BB fills up, I just dump what I don't need onto a pc.....I don't need 10 movies with me all at the same time, etc.

Having a 32 GB would be cool, but having tons of pics taken from my BB as well as 10 movies, about 700 songs, and 5 Slacker stations put me as having about 5 GB left.

Yeah. Agreed. I have a 16gb Class 2 for my BB since that allows me to have most of my music and not have to also carry my iPod when I travel.

For a new cam we will be getting soon, I will likely want a Class 6 card so I will probably go 8gb unless I can get a great deal on a class 6 16GB. But 8 should be be fine the way we shoot and then dump to the PC.....

Now have a 16gb SD card, and it's still not enough for me. I used my BB as my default media player for portable purposes and the auxiliary port in my car's head unit for on-the-road listening purposes.

With newer OS's and especially hybrids, the scan time on media is very fast, so I could now imagine owning a 128gb SD card, I'd love one as a matter of fact, then I can re-expand my music collection.
