I went to bbm.com and it redirects me to playstore

in playstore, it says that my Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is not a compatible device?

    WTF!!!!!

I want the full screen experience.

Can anyone confirm that BBM only works on small screen device?

    Thanks.

exactly. I found that in bbm.com that it is not supported, how hard is it to implement a bigger screen when the API calls are exactly the same to send and receive messages??

What are the device requirements for BBM?

Android phones running Android 4.0 and higher. iPhone running iOS 6 or iOS 7. Tablet devices are not supported.

This app is there for last few days. When I tweeted about it everyone said it's fake. But now

Wait sometime. It will be fixed

Why would BlackBerry let other tablets without data use BBM when there own product, the Playbook can't get BBM
. They still have to keep carriers more or less happy although it would be great to be able to use BBM on a straight WIFI connection. Then BlackBerry could offer voip services in direct competition with those less than supportive carriers!!! But for now, I am sure you need a data connection or phone radio to access BBM. Most tablets don't have this. As well, the deepest penetration at present is on handsets not tablets.

BBM is not available for tablets. Phones only. I was attempting to download the .apk but they removed the thread. I can sideload on a tablet and test it if I can find an .apk.

Update: Got an APK from a source and loaded it on a 10in ThinkPad Tablet running ICS. Works fine. Also tested on an Iview 4 inch Android and an Asus Transformer Prime Pad with JellyBean. All work fine.

The bad news.... converted the APK to a BAR and loaded onto the PlayBook. It just ForceCloses :-(

How do I download apk straight from google store and manually install to my tab 2 without rooting? Is it possible?

@BigwhiteUK, how do you make it work with Nexus 7?

    Thanks.

This is what it says on the apple website about BBM on tablets:
Compatibility: Requires iOS 6.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G, iPad Wi-Fi + Cellular (3rd generation), iPad Wi-Fi + Cellular (4th generation), and iPad mini Wi-Fi + Cellular. This app is optimized for iPhone 5

So yes, it should work on an ipad.

For Android, it only says this:
    Requires Android
    4.0 and up

They said from the start it wouldn't be for tablets until later, which means probably a year.

Restricting messaging to smartphones is going to be a non-starter for a lot of iPhone users since a lot of us have iPads and are used to being able to send iMessage with either the iPhone or iPad. Since BBM is trying to displace other messaging services, right now, restricting it won't help them get there.

The press release clearly states "BBM requires Android 4.0 and up, and iOS 6 and higher. BBM is NOT compatible with Tablets." - Paraphrased

They probably didn't want to release it for tablets. What if you are out of wifi coverage for 18 hours and someone is messaging you every minute, BlackBerry would have to store that message. Most phones have a data plan so less risk of them having to store that many messages. That would be my take on it.

remember, unless you registered sometime ago, like I did, you wont be able to use it straight away. You will be asked to register, and then placed in a queue. So regardless if you down load the apk file or the app from Google Play you may have to wait

@BigwhiteUK, I look at this link here on how to download apk

    http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-an...ml#post9371088

Now it says I need to use device ID? Which device ID should I use? My Galaxy Tab 2? if so, would the apk still install on my tab 2 given that the tab 2 is said not compatible with BBM app?

    Thanks.
