A Lot of complaints of battery drain. Apparently it's draining 1% a minute on a few samsung phones.

I'm assuming you're talking about bbm?
If you were a previous BBM user I'm not surprised, it has to sync all your old chats

Can any ios or android user confirm this? This would really bad if indeed it drained a lot of battery. I know for android that BBM logo is is always on notification screen.

I'm a previous BBM on BB user. All my syncing was done yesterday. Today, 8am to 7pm off the charger and down to 35% left with almost no usage. It's a Galaxy Note 2. Normal stats: fairly heavy usage gets 3-5 hours more to get to the same battery level.

I am in the same boat. I've noticed a significant amount of battery drainage using my Note 2 as well. The battery is stellar on this device, so I KNOW it's the BBM app that's causing this. I have recently selected to turn off the BBM Connected icon, hoping this helps the issue

Turning off the persistent BlackBerry notification made my phone to normal battery usage, and I haven't missed a message!

    Can Confirm:
I'm using a custom rom on my note II (Paranoid Android 3.99). Battery usage has been pretty much identical to pre-BBM.

been using BBM moderately today (not a heavy day by far). I have used in 7 hours only 33.33% of my total battery (66% remaining) and BBM's Battery usage is at 2% of that. Less battery than "Cell Standby" and "phone Idle".

Data usage has also been minimal 4.5mb used

I can also confirm that since I installed bbm on my galaxy s4, the rate of battery drain has increased about 200%...my phone is perpertually on charge now. We need a quick fix to this orelse its back to my bold 5 for me

No serious battery drain on my Nexus 4 running 4.2.2.

I did uninstall Whatsapp. And the BBM notification is left on.

Could this be related to version of Android as it seems from above not everyone using the same phone is experiencing issues?

Of all my contacts (about 15 people) only one is reporting battery drain and he has an S3, not sure what OS version.

Also to add, I use BetterBatteryStats to monitor activities. so far BBM has 1700 wakelocks actvities which means it is constantly waking up the phone while it should be idle/sleeping when the screen is off. so indeed BBM is killing battery, dont know if it is specifically to Galaxy Phones but you'd be surprise if you check and notice a lot of wakelocks on BBM.

Interesting... Checking the stock Android battery menu, it doesn't look like its taking up too much of the battery.

Then you dive into the actual stats. I use "Wake Lock Detector" on my GS3 and BBM is the highest in screen wakelocks, highest in Wakeup triggers, and second highest in CPU wakelocks... not good.

My battery took a lot longer to charge when I had it installed. Went away after uninstalling. Think it's from the connection the service maintains, among other things.

Nexus 4, Android 4.3. Deinitely a battery hit since I installed it, though BBM doesn't show as even using any battery. Interestingly enough< Waze shows as the major battery hog at 34% today, but Waze isn't on! Given that, not sure how valid the stock Android battery usage reporting is.

Not good, my girlfriend already has enough issues with battery life on the Note N7000 I gave her =/ Whatsapp is very light on data use, too, I'll have to do a good amount of testing before I try to convince her to switch to BBM.
