The problem is that the keyboard appears also and obstructs the text that is under the magic circle.

Anyone else find the new cursor in 10.1 MUCH better than its predecessor?

Love the blue flash when you tap, instant feedback about what's about to happen and confirmation that you hit the correct side.

Yes, the cursor used to lag a lot when you tapped on it to move it left or right, but now it is very fast. The blue flash is also nice to further indicate that you indeed moved the cursor.

Yeah, Shift+Backspace or Alt+Backspace to move the cursor back within a word while typing would be so nice!. (Neither are used for anything right now.) The touch screen is great, but I bought the Q10 because I prefer using keys where possible, and this would be so simple. I hope they hear us and add it to OS 10.2

Alt-Backspace functions as the Delete key.

I just tried it, you are right, Alt-Backspace deletes the character to the right, Shift-Backspace does the same. A bit redundant; couldn't we have LeftShift-Backspace instead used to move the cursor one character to the left, and RightShift-Backspace move the cursor one character to the right? That would be nice! (Alt-Backspace would still serve the Delete-key function.) Wadaya think?

That I had to read this here (no offense, CB) rather than from BB is...irritating. That said, glad to know it. Thank you, OP!

Thanks for the tip, but I still MUCH RATHER PREFER my BB 9900. Sorry I traded it in. I used to draft memos and "quick and dirty" proposals for my agency and I did it with a breeze. With my new Q10, I'm waaaaay less productive (I've had it for 5 days now). I'm very disappointed. In shock actually. I have given up so much productivity for a few "wow" features. Ugh! I've been a BB owner since the 8307e. The Q10 is my sixth BB. Up until this week, I was a die-hard BB fan.

Give it some time, especially as you pick up more tricks. I had the same feeling when I first got the Q10, but I'm now at around 90% of my productivity level when drafting documents; the only thing slowing me down is the lack of copy/paste shortcuts. However, I'm much more productive in multitasking, since the swipe up is a lot faster than a long press on the menu key, and applications switch much faster as well.

For office work, I'm probably on par with my OS6 phone. For media and browsing, I'm so far ahead with OS10 that I can't quantify it.

I don't think this has been mentioned but if you tap a word to correct and bring up the circle you can tap left or right side within the circle and the cursor will move a character respective to the direction tapped. I find this more useful than dragging the circle around. Sorry if this has been mentioned I just found out.

Also, you can tap the top of the circle to go up a line and tap the bottom in the circle go down a line
That's the most useful tip I have read in a very long time. Thank You!!!!!

Good tip I have been have a time with that circle. If you high lite the word and hit backspace does that delete the word? I don't know how I high lite the word but I've done it a few times. Great learning new systems.
You are leaving your finger on the screen for a long press ,and yes the backspace key will delete what is highlighted as well as a swipe left to delete.

One other semi-related tip I love around selecting words, sentences, paragraphs:

To select a word press and hold for second or so. To select a sentence hold a bit longer. To select a paragraph hold a bit longer. Etc

    Tap is awesome.
Only issue you will need to swipe for is when at the edge of the screen.
You'll remember this when it happens to you.
