I'm thinking this option will not come up if it does not recognize the card?

The 1st thing I did after my Z10 arrived, bought a SanDisk Ultra micraSDXC 64gb class 10 on Amazon which was €49.40 at the time.
Inserted it in to the Z10 and formated it right away with the phone... Since than I had no issues at all,
Only thing is, that a 64gb card only showing up some 59,3gb in the "media card details" of the Z10. Anyway the card is fast without any delay in any operation while reading or writing.

Some SanDisk software may be on the card. You can do a full reformat on your computer, and then a standard format on you device. That should recover the missing memory.

"Only thing is, that a 64gb card only showing up some 59,3gb in the "media card details" of the Z10"

Memory card makers report their GB as 1000 x 1000 x 1000 bytes. Computers speak binary and work with 1GB being 1024 x 1024 x1024 bytes, which is considerably larger. So your 64000 000 0000 bytes card is actually reported as 59.something because of this

    1 computer Giga-byte is 1024 x1024 x 1024 bytes = 1073741824 bytes

You can work it out like this: (Your 64GB card is) 64000 000 000 bytes / 1 computer Giga-byte = 59.605GB according to Z10 and all other computers, phones, etc. (Will report less due to blocks, starting point, etc)

It is a swizz, but that's life and its the same for PC hard drives too

The problem is that when I put the card into my computer to format it, it does not recognize it. (this is after the Z10 did not recognize it) I'm just going to get a new card and see if that works. Thank you everyone for trying get to help. Really appreciate it.

Me too. I had a couple of San Disk cards that just stopped working (8 and 16 GB). I lost some data, fortunately nothing really important.

Lesson learned. Now I stay away from San Disk cards.

It's a case of binary versus decimal. The "64 GB" card is only 64, 000, 000, 000 bytes. Whereas the phone is reporting GiB. 59.3 GiB is 63, 672, 890,163. Plus FAT32 uses some overhead. There's no missing space. This is the same as windows and HDD.

i dropped a sandisc 64gb card into my z10 all was fine then after a couple of hours it wouldn't play anything on the card it would show pictures in the folder but wouldn't open them also when i went into file manager it had the date 1970 on everything and wouldn't open anything.i formatted the card through the phone as soon as i had it you could reboot and everything would be ok then it would lose the info again all the time the phone would acknowledge the card in the memory card part. is it just a sandisc problem?

Most cards will work but SanDisk is fast and much, much more reliable than the cheaper brands.

I've never had a SanDisk die on me but have seen a ton of cheap is fail and lose everything.

I ordered a Samsung 64GB card with a Komputerbay SD adapter from Amazon for $54. Free 2-day shipping with my Prime membership. It'll be here tomorrow, but I've never had issues with Samsung hard drives/ssd's before. I think it was one of the cheaper, non-off brand 64GB cards. Komputerbay is a reputable company though, if anyone comes across them.

It wasn't recognized in my Q10 initially, I reformatted it on my computer, still didn't get recognized. I cancelled a format of the disk to make it unreadable, then when I put it in my Q10 it gave me a dialog that the media card needed formatted; works perfectly now.

Best results fr SD being formatted by device. I inserted pre-loaded card fr prev device and got all sorts of Folder mess. Plus sync appears to have issues w/ non BlackBerry formatted SD's

Samsung actually manufatures a vast amount of solid state storage for OEM but rarely market it under their own brand. So a lot of the 3rd party brands you see quite quite likely be Samsung memory. I ordered one (64GB) for myself today, was quite a bit cheaper than Sandisk for the same card, ie $58AUD for Sandisk and Samsung $40AUD. My Q10 will be very happy indeed!

Just do a search, look at sellers feedback, if it's above 99% make sure they have done considerable amount of sales, look at previous items that sold similar or same that u r looking for and look at that exact feedback to tell you if they were good cards or not
