On your device: in settings, tap Storage and Access. Scroll down and turn off "access using Wi-Fi. Then scroll down to bottom and make sure USB Mass Storage is OFF.
On your computer desktop.. in BB Link Turn OFF wireless connection to my computer.

then hard wire your Device to your computer with the USB cable.

OK! 8.1! uninstall BB Link. Reinstall by right clicking the .exe file and "RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR"

    That should solve your problem!

Tried that and still won't work. Never had this trouble with XP or windows 7. I give up just now as it seems to be a common issue with windows 8.1. Found a few threads from people with the same 'device not associated with a BlackBerry id' problem.

I get more frustrated with 8.1 everyday. It's about time to go back to 7, I've been thinking. 8.1 seems to have removed a lot of support for cross platform functionality, whether it's bluetooth or media related or whatever. I'm not trying to say that BlackBerry doesn't need to update Link to play nicely with Windows updates; they do, but I'm tired of the lack of features that came baked in and without issue when I was using Windows 7.

I haven't run in to any of these issued on 8.1, I recently got rid of 7 because I was so happy with how smooth 8.1 ran. I wonder if it's being blocked by a firewall in windows or the router in your home. Will be watching this article to see what the fix was. Just in case I have it in his future.

Did you by chance do a security wipe on your phone after you upgraded your OS? This happened to me when I did that. Nothing I tried worked to get BBID to associate (despite it being correct). And I tried it all.
Only thing that worked was to reinstall OS and NO security wipe, and bingo it worked. This is on Win7, but I think that could be your issue...

You are correct sir. I built my autoloader out of 10.2.1.2947 OS with the 10.2.1.2759 radio then security wiped after install only 2 days ago. Just checked my other laptop and having similar issues on XP.

Looks like it's a reload for me.

I'll let you know if it works.

I, too, have Win8.1 Pro. Regarding RFA, it's always been a crap shoot for me. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't. I have tried to find what makes it work and what crashes it, all to no avail.

I HAVE had it work on Win8.1, but inconsistently. Same on my Win7 box.

All I can suggest is to also check and make sure that you have the latest version of the .net framework installed. That seems to have helped some.

RFA worked for me on my Win7 box until I loaded one of the OS updates (I forget now which one). Now, it occasionally works on my Vista machine but not the Win7. It is likely a problem with Link, which doesn't fully load on my Win7 machine since the Link update in November. It's also consistent with both my Q10 and my Z10. I'll be following this thread to see if someone finally stumbles on a fix.

    It's a driver problem folks.

It's a driver problem. Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 are very finicky about unsigned drivers.and block them.
to get around this problem in Windows 7 boot into "Advanced Boot Screen" scroll down to "Allow unsigned drivers."
Reboot. To install BB LINK Properly.. Right click on the EXE file and click "Run as Administrator"

Windows 8 and 8.1 make it a bit harder but just follow the instructions on this link to solve your driver problems and install BB Link!

Not to derail anything but I was wondering where all these extra desktops came from in my settings page for RFA. I don't have blackberry link installed anywhere else except for the first laptop on this list. Oh and I've tried deleting them but they auto reappear for some reason too haha

How can you NOT derail, if you know you're gonna derail?
    Too late. It's derailed!

anywho...... They're neighbors! You can't access those desktops but If you press and hold the ones that your want to get rid of, a bar will slide out from the right and you can delete them.

    OK! Re-rail!

Tried the same and no luck.
Could windows 8.1 pro be needed as it has added remote access functions, supposedly. I know thats a stupid question but it is Microsoft we're talking about.

So I used the Z10STL100-2/10.2.1.2947 autoloader the one with the 2235 radio. Then opened link signed out. Selected the remove device option. Signed back in and voila my Z10 shows up in RFA. Reconnected the device and all seems well.
Although when I select my laptop in file manager it doesn't show any folders.
Time to put it down and roll a joint.
