Thanks for your hard work, really appreciate it. But I am just wondering instead of going through the code manually cant you copy the code from the hex-editor to a word document and then use words compare documents feature, that might help I guess.
A little more complex than that. The text string can't be copied without the proper HEX Codes to go with

APN's are a funny thing, I can never fully understand the concept behind what locks them down
APN is certainly controlled by the carrier, either directly from the SIM or downloaded over the cellular service. If the actual default APN is controlled like this I expect editing permissions will also be controlled by the carrier.

Even funnier about this is the fact that my APN decided that it was done being locked, and unlocked itself when it decided to change my network terminology over night

That would tend to support the hypothesis that APN and associated settings are pushed over the connected cellular network. Most likely you connected to a different node or something, or with a different mode of service (at least in network logic).

For those with a 100-1 please be ready that this may not work and it may softbrick your device. Just have another autoloader ready and or link to restore stock. Also get your backups done now. Only at a 10% upload so may not be posted till tmrw
    Kris ... a suggestion if I may ... please.

Could you kindly udpate the first post to those first coming into the thread, just so they know what to expect right from first post and not traverse through pages as this thread grows, and then they post explicitives such as #$@%#^$&$!! without reading the lastest posts; as does occur far too often in forums.

    Cheers.

APN settings for most devices has traditionally always been pushed from the network switch to the SIM card and thus reflected on the device. A network that doesn't carry a particular model smartphone and one that also didn't have their network team and testers test for it, most likely did not create such a file that the switch could push out. This has been my experience (previously working for 2 providers; Rogers & T-Mobile USA, while seeing said WAP PUSH file created for a Nortel, Nokia, and Ericsson switches).

So I am building a new autoloader for this trying something way (and I mean WAY) out to lunch. I'm starting the autoloader with the official 1720 OS for STL100-1 followed by the 2342 OS followed by the stock 1721 radio for STL100-1....will it work? more than likely not, but im hoping that with the HWID being loaded first it should work and not overwrite the same files twice

Kris, wouldn't it be easier to use cap.exe with 1721 radio and 2342 os instead of using the hexedit?
I don't have a STL100-1 to test. Like Kris, I am on the -3, but from my understanding, if you use the official 1721 radio and the 2342 OS bar files, and use caps to compile it, it should work fine

I use my custom built autoloadstl1.exe to compile the two signed files

What is the difference between caps and your autoloader?
Doesn't caps just do what autoloader does with everything, but automatically insert the hwid for the different devices?
So in the sense, caps would detect the radio file for STL100-1, then insert the hwid for it? At least that's how it works from my understanding.

Where would i find this cap.exe? I keep hearing about it but never could find it. Also my base autoloader is compiled from the base of the STL100-1 Dev 1485 from BlackBerry developer site

it was in one of the posts. xsacha linked it a few weeks ago.
    All you need is caps.exe radio.signed os.signed
and it will give you waht you want

So sounds exactly like what I use just prebuilt instead of building it myself.

I use "autoload create os.signed rad.signed fullos.exe" and it packs my files and creates the full loader
