OK, something curious - on my last call the display lit up after the call - just as if the proximity sensor worked.
I did add some of the OS files via Sachesi yo see if I get any effect - they still report as off, however it makes me question whether the underlying mechanisms might not be changing. I.e. That there are so if I can't API changes with regards to the sensors in 10.3 - maybe to better accommodate extras such as advanced interactions.

So, has anybody got any other ideas?

I fiddled with OS version and can Comfirm that a downgrade to 10.2.1 does not enable them...?

I wonder whether it may not be unrelated to 10.3....
But then again why do only 10.3 users have the issue?

Or it is a repeat of the calibration issue - and 10.3 doesn't get the data...
But then 10.2.1 should be fine... or the data is resent/checked/accessed periodically and pur short returns to troubleshoot just isn't enough...

    I don't think I have any 10.1 autoloaders left...
Plus there is the time issue for me as well.

Having said that though, should 10.3.0.442 be fine?
I mean testers want at least a working brightness sensor...

One thing I found weird is that the phone once behalf es as if the proximity sensor is on - despite not showing it in BlackBerry virtual expert...
And it only became an issue after a volume button reboot, working fine before...

It's a hard to understand issue...
Also, I just cannot see how the sensors could break on 10.3 and not older OSes - it isn't as if there is a reason for it...
(they aren't on constantly or similar)

For me too, the issue started with 10.2.1 when I loaded a leak (and that leak became the official release later).

We need someone to downgrade under 10.2.1, I cannot do this as I'm having a time issue as well.

    Hi

Did you tried to downgrade to 10.1 to see if it could change anything ?

    Posted via CB10 on Q10 OS 10.3.0.296 /441
I've downgraded my os to 10.2.1.1925 without any luck.
    Now I'm running os 10.1.0.1916
    Attachment 278173
Still no working proximity - and light sensor.

I fear this as well - yet every now and then I get the impression they do work...
I thought the screen turned on after a call (I can't swipe with my face!) and this morning it seemed as if the screen adjusted slightly outside...
    Or I'm imagining things?

But if the sensors have gone bad, this would mean they are susceptible to reboots - or OS reloads (that it was a leak does not matter - in fact, I suspect it would be the reboot before the reload that is at fault) which would suggest a design flaw to me.
I do t quote want to believe that they messed that up. Heck, they've had these sensors for years before BlackBerry 10... they should be perfect at designing them.

    It could be contacts?

There is a company that does proximity sensor repair here in the UK for 40. I might reach out to them and see if a repair/change does the job.

I can see that you think the problem is caused by installing leaks, but I just wanted to say that i have the same problem as well (and i did not install any leak).

    Thanks for replying.

I won't have free time to his weekend, so I have no time to fiddle...

I know people referenced missing files - have you got the path to them?
(I would think PlayCloud should be able to reach them too, not only ghost commander.)

Also, have any people with issues on am older bulls checked the engineering screen? I can't remember if the sensors had an entry there....

Yes the sensors files are missing.
I don't know if there is a way to reload them

I would assume reloading just the OS (e.g. Via update files) with Sachesi/DBBT WILL put them back.
The question is, will they stay or will the OS remove then for some reason....

I think they were removed by the OS - why I don't know.

There is one question that came to mind though:
Do the Dev devices have the brightness and proximity sensor?

Already tried that, reloading the os. Didn't work, still having issues with the sensor.

Yes, the Dev Alpha has a light- and proximity sensor.. It's working fine for me on my Dev A.

Well, did you try just the OS or the whole autoloader?
I verified that using the autoloader doesn't work.

As to the Dev devices: Hmm, if it hadn't had them I would have said the phones were "downgraded" for being on a leak but if it has the sensors that's not a viable route.

The other option that remains is that we get a version of the original bug where Z10s weren't getting the correction data, but why then are some people on 10.2.1 also affected?

Edit: fixed wrong word due to auto correct
