I definitely like touching somewhere to focus on it rather auto focusing. I also do like be able to press anywhere to take a pic. I STILL say that the BEST way to go into give US, the consumers, different options so we pick what we like and what works best for us. How about the option to have taking pics be how it is now or how it is currently try on 10.3?

Another option is to hold to focus and touch to snap.

I think it should be like 10.3 when you are using the front facing camera and like 10.2.1 and below when using the backside camera (taking pictures of yourself with the backside camera is very frustrating with 10.3 but for normal use 10.3 feels more like an actual camera.

Just combine the best from both worlds!

Touching anywhere made BlackBerry different. Probably trying to appease share holders. By implementing features that everyone else does.

Everyone is different, having the option for multiple ways is always the best. I prefer clicking the volume button over touching the screen.

Sidenote: I thinks it's easier to keep the device still when using the hardware buttons (like on a camera) having to press on the screen I get the device to shake a lot while taking the actual picture.

IMO one handed use is simpler too when you have to press a button on the side where u have to hold the device anyways.

    So lease give us options.

It should be an option, but I personally prefer the new method. Selective Auto focus before was a pain!

The change to the new system also allows a smoother camera transition for iPhone and Android users.

Just so you know...touch anywhere to focus instantly...snap pics with volume buttons (easy method)...or blue button on screen (harder method)...retrain muscle memory...it's nice.

Well, if anybody is keeping count; I for one will be extatic to be rid of the keep-awkwardly-the-hell-away-from-the-screen-like-it's-seering-hot-to-avoid-unintentional-shots situation.

    Preferrence options are always welcome.

I got so used to being able to tap anywhere, it makes it easy to get the perfect picture. Having to click the dedicated button makes it harder. AT LEAST they should make it optional to the user, that would be awesome.

Uh, there IS another option. If you have almost (99%) any camera there is usually a button on the top of it to take a picture. The Z10, Z30 and Z3 all have two to choose from in the same area, the top edge. On the top left of them is a volume up. There is also a volume down. Believe it or not if depressed they will both snap a picture!
You asked for options...you have three.

I still think ergonomically and in terms of stability using a button at the top (like holding a camera) is just better overall,
but since people seem to use the touchscreen a lot, I hope they give us both options.
Whenever I try to make a shot with one hand, buttons give me stability while touchscreen gives me blur

I would prefer having all the camera options pop up once touching the screen while still using (hardware) buttons to make a shot.
Having one screen ui for picture taking and video, might make more changes necessary.

I thought I didn't care, but after taking some outdoor pictures near the waterfront this past weekend, I realise that when the sun is in my eyes or I simply can't see the screen in the sun very well, tapping anywhere on the screen is a GODSEND. I do not want to give that up. *grumble*

I understand that, but why would pressing the hardware key - that can always be found on the same location and gives feedback on click (even thinking about taking pictures without the screen on btw.) - not be better than touching somewhere on the screen?

Not trying to convince anybody, I just want to hear more reasons. Tried the touch-way many times, still didn't convince me...

The touch screen anywhere is a nice unique feature on bb10 but for good blur free steady shots the volume buttons are best.

They should keep all options available and have settings in options to turn them on or off.
