So....I'm almost at my wits end concerning email and the Z10 on 10.3.1 (in another thread on this forum). My workaround was to just use VPN and connect to the internal IP of the mail server when I wanted to check email. This does not work with email. I get a message when I try:

    Offline
Your device is not connected to a network. Connect to a network and try again.

However when I try and connect to the website of the internal server IP, it connects just fine. My email settings are specifically by IP as well. I'd love to know why/what the issue is. This seems like a bug to me. Any thoughts on this? Thank you.

Need more details. Sounds like it could be a firewall problem. By whom and how was the vpn setup?

Then you configuring your firewall, use split tunneling feature to route all client traffic to vpn. And then set up your firewall to open access to Internet for VPN clients throught your corporate Internet access.

Thanks all for the responses. I don't think I'm explaining this well, so I'll try and be more detailed

    1. VPN server AND email server are the same server
    2. I set up the VPN using strongswan
    3. This server has 2 interfaces, one external routeable IP, and an internal 192.168.1.1 address
    4. Firewall rules aren't really relevant as I'm not providing Internet, just an internal (192.168.1.11) IP via VPN to access 192.168.1.1 (again, same machine).
    5. This EXACT same setup (complete with the same certs) works just fine on a laptop.
    6. Using browser, I can get to 192.168.1.1 just fine using port 80 when connected to the VPN

The email client on the BB doesn't appear to even attempt..just says no network and that's that, which isn't accurate. Thank you.

And you're also using the ip for email server, or hostname?

IP....192.168.1.1, works on wireless just fine. I am wondering if the BB does an internet check..just like every other device on the planet nowadays....that will fail miserably as I don't have it set up to access the internet at all.

LoL....yea my working setup from my laptop magically died...Now I'm greeted with:

    Code:
    Mar 1 17:21:52 gateway charon: 01[NET] sending packet: from server.ext.ip[4500] to client.ext.ip[61562] (2204 bytes)
    Mar 1 17:22:15 gateway charon: 12[NET] received packet: from client.ext.ip[61562] to server.ext.ip[4500] (1916 bytes)
    Mar 1 17:22:15 gateway charon: 12[ENC] parsed IKE_AUTH request 1 [ IDi CERT N(INIT_CONTACT) CERTREQ IDr AUTH CPRQ(ADDR DNS) SA TSi TSr N(MOBIKE_SUP) N(ADD_4_ADDR) N(MULT_AUTH) N(EAP_ONLY) ]
Mar 1 17:22:15 gateway charon: 12[IKE] received retransmit of request with ID 1, retransmitting response
So as of this point, not a BB issue...thanks for looking.

So this is absolutely a blackberry issue...I suspect it's because I'm not providing internet at all that this is happening. I'll detail the results for the reasoning in a different thread. Thank you.

I think BlackBerry is well known for issues previously where if the wifi adaptor can't communicate through to their servers, it switches to mobile. This is to guarantee the usual scenerio, where a person wants Internet through wifi works and doesn't just fail. Have your tied disabling mobile data for a test?

Rockin a Passport and Z30! Two devices are better than 1!
