I know how scary something like that can be, but you'll be ok.

To load another OS the computer needs to see your phone. From what I've read your best bet is to connect your phone to the computer, run your autoloader of choice, as soon as it says connecting to Bootrom press and hold the power button about 10-15 seconds until the phone restarts.

It should then install the new OS. Please let us know how you make out!

Thanks, Howard! I need one point of clarification, though: when you say connect the phone to the computer (initially), does the device need to be off at that point? Or, does it matter?

    Thanks!

    I've got an update:

As of right now on 10.3.0.1052, I've got VVM working on my Verizon Z30!

I've made my backup and am in the process of performing the non-destructive upgrade to 10.3.1.1016. I will post another update once things settle down.

Even if this doesn't work for me, I want to thank all of you for your help! You're the best!

Well, now -- How 'bout that Verizon Visual Voice Mail on 10.3.1.1016 right there?!? LOL!

Jo -- You're the man! I'm good to go on the latest leak (.1016)! The first image was snapped once things worked on 10.3.0.1052, and the second image was snapped after I'd side-loaded the VVM file and then restored the 'Device Settings and Local Contacts/Calendar Data' component of the backup file, only. You were right about that part of it, as that was all I needed to use.

I appreciate all of you, and hope you have a great week!

Glad to hear things worked out well for you, Marcus! Your persistence paid off and I'm sure will be a big help to others here.

To answer your question, the phone should be on. But I guess you already did this when you ran the autoloader successfully.

Be interested to hear how you make out with texting and MMS. I know some experienced problems but maybe not with this latest 1016 leak.

    Hi, Howard!

Looks like SMS/MMS issues you described earlier aren't a problem for me in 10.3.1.1016. I'm having no problems at all sending or receiving multimedia messages, nor am I experiencing any odd delays or issues during transmission/receipt.

So far, the battery life of this leak has been off the chart! I'm still going off of the charge I had yesterday, and it says I still have about 7 or 8 hours to go before I'm toast. Very not bad...

Oh, and VVM is still working like a charm, too.

Ok So after obsessing over not having this feature for the last few days I finally took the plunge and extracted ALL the VVM files from 10.2.1.3358. I expected the worst but hoped for the best. So. since there are a good bit of vvm files I decided NOT to test them 1 by 1 but to just load them all. ( what could it hurt.. ) Needless to say, loading these files worked. After side loading them, I rebooted the phone and went back thru the visual voice mail set up process. I didn't receive the error this time, but instead was asked for my password. After I submitted my password it took me to the vvm info screen, I exited it. Called my phone and left myself a voicemail and it worked. My phone still gave the pop up of having a new voice mail. I went into the hub and played it. I know there are a few people at least who were hoping for a fix and luckily its a pretty simple one. Here are all the vvm files that I used. this was for a Z30 os but, I'm sure they should work for all other phones on the Verizon network also.

    Enjoy!
I sideloaded your files and it got me further than before. Still not working though. I get frozen on the screen that says it's checking with Verizon if I have a VVM subscription. And then I get an error unable to connect. Please see below

Lol he just said how. As have I. You have to follow the directions exactly. There is no other way to make it work besides using these instructions.

    Load 10.3.0.1056.
Load the ecid538 bar file from the first post.
    Restart phone.
    Set up visual voice mail.
Do a test call make sure it works. ( call your cell from another phone)
Once it works, back up using link.
    Load 10.3.1.1016
Load the visual voice mail file again (ecid538)
Do a restore. Make sure you hit custom, then hit details, uncheck everything but the last option with calender/contacts, hit restore.
    Phone will restart.
    Voice mail should be working.

Wow! No way to do it directly in 1016? Also, if I do it, do I need to do the restore after the 1016 upgrade or can I just start fresh? Lastly, where can I get the autoloader for the 1056? Is autoloading 1056 and then upgrading to 1016 as stable as a clean 1056 install?

You're basically starting fresh. As the next restore will revert your vvm back to a not working state if you restore the device settings/contact/calendar. Also do not restore the BlackBerry runtime.

Not sure that I understand. After I install 1016 (over 1056) do I need to do that step where I run. A custom restore or can I skip the whole restore step? I don't need to restore, I sync with my corporate email either way

Also, can I use the link for the autoloader for 1056 that was posted earlier to install 1056 if I'm already running 1016? And, lastly, after I have 1056 runing do I use the same autoloader to go to 1016 as I used last time, when I wan on 10.2? Thanks

Each autoloader is its own os. If you install 1056. You then have to download and install 1016. 1056 is 10.3 and 1016 is 10.3.1. But you can't get vvm without installing both. It doesn't matter if you install on top or if you sic wipe and install clean as long as you did the back up before you install the 10.3.1.

After you autoload 1056 don't do anything but side load the VVM file and then verify VVM is working. Backup at this point. So as you can see you're not backing up anything other than the fresh install with a working VVM.

Then autoload 1016 and follow the rest of the directions. It's really like doing a fresh install as the only thing you're restoring is a few things from the minimal 1056 backup.

Follow Jo's directions exactly as he wrote them and you'll get this working. Good luck and please let us know how you make out.

Sorry to bother you all again. Just sat down to try Jo's instructions and ran into an uncertainty. He says to load the ecid538 bar file from the first post. I had clicked on his 1st post and downloaded an rar file which extracted to many ecid bar files. Don't see a 538 in there. Am I supposed to just sideload all of them? Here is a snapshot of most of the files contained in the folder that I extracted to, to give you an idea. There are 47 in all:
