    All,

I side-loaded the file sys.data.ecid538.vvm and no joy. Should I try loading the other .bar file or try the full 20 in the zipped file?

    I'm running 10.3.1.938 on y Z10 STL100-4

    Thanks,
It doesn't work the same on 10.3.1, jo posted a method on how to get it to work, should be in this thread.

Thanks - thought I had read the entire thread (as I used his method to get it back when I went from 10.2 to 10.3), but since loading 10.3.1.938 I do get VM, but not the visual type. I will see what he says and try it and report back.

Afraid I couldn't get this to work for me. It hung on the "Connecting to your voicemail system..." status message forever. Never actually connected.

Yea you skipped a step. You have to use a 10.2.1 back up with visual voice mail working after loading the file on a 10.3.1. Then it will work.

Jo, could be my bad memory but I don't recall a post by you stating using a 10.2.1 backup on 10.3.1. When you say use a 10.2.1 backup are you just referring to settings?

Jo, I've been working on this, as it was working fo me on .1154. But now, when you mention not restoring "Android runtime", I don't see that in the list of items to restore. Am I being blind? Or are you actually talking about the "Blackberry runtime"???

    Sorry to be so thick!

So. I've managed to get vvm working on every single release by doing that method.

Loaded 10.3.0.1052. Loaded the 538 bar. Got visual voice mail working and that's it.

    Made a back up.

Then load whatever OS I want. Side load the one 538 file. Then restore DO NOT INCLUDE THE RUNTIME.

It's like doing a fresh install.

And visual voice mail works like a charm every time.

And now I can use that one back up file with every OS I have loaded.

Jo -- Do you know if there is any one (or two) specific components of the backup which are absolutely essential in getting VVM to work?

I'm straight about not restoring the BlackBerry Runtime component, but what about the others? Especially after we've already upgraded to the release we want prior to doing the restore?

I was wondering if the BBM stuff was really needed to make it work? It's in the backup file, but I don't know if it's relevant?

Thanks! Any input will be great, as I'm going to try this myself, tonight! :^)

I'm thinking it's actually in the last device settings contacts/calendar portion of the backup honestly. But I can't say 100%. I do know the other night when I left that unchecked. My vvm didn't work.

    Awesome!! Thanks!

I'll give it a shot with only that item selected and see if it makes a difference. If it doesn't work, I'll add additional items from the backup until I find a combination that works, and then post the results here.

Funny, I unchecked it. I still haven't had enough usage, today, to report findings. I think Monday or so will tell the tale.

Give yourself a test call. What is usually do. But another sign is not having vvm in the hub if it's not there more then likely a step was missed.

OK. I've got big problems, here. I think I bricked my phone going back to 10.3.0.1052 using the non-destructive method, as the phone will accept my input to enter a password to unlock it, but absolutely nothing will run -- settings, hub, apps -- nothing.

Not even Sachesi can see it, and I fear I'm screwed. Out of all of my expectations from this, I never thought this would happen. Any ideas as to how to correct this without having to blow away everything?

90% sure that you cannot do non destruct method to go backwards. You have a backup, right? Just run sic multiwipe and get yourself to a clean install again. Here's a link: http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-le...loader-909209/
Sorry to hear and good luck!

I know how scary something like that can be, but you'll be ok.

To load another OS the computer needs to see your phone. From what I've read your best bet is to connect your phone to the computer, run your autoloader of choice, as soon as it says connecting to Bootrom press and hold the power button about 10-15 seconds until the phone restarts.

It should then install the new OS. Please let us know how you make out!

Thanks so much for the advice! I really appreciate it!

I've never done a non-destructive downgrade before, and I now know you can bump that 90% figure up to about 95% w/my confirmation that it's definitely not something a person would want to do! :^)

I did get a backup done prior to my attempt, so I'm in just as good of a position to use Jo's instructions for resolving my VVM issues now than I've ever been. I can start from scratch and follow every instruction to the letter.

I'll post my results once I have something positive. The frustrating thing is I can hear incoming SMS messages coming in, but can't do a thing to read them. This is the first time I've ever seen a BlackBerry device do something like this. Wow...
