I did a non-destructive load of 1151 over 1016- using Sachesi and the Blitz files. That was after doing a full backup of course, and turned on flight mode- and turned off password protection. It was flawless and everything is working except VVM . I know this is the thread on that - too bad I didn't keep up with this thread as it is a 2 load process (10.3.0.1052 first- sideload 538 vvm bar- get it VVM working- Back up- install 1151-sidload 538 again... restore settings only ... a lot work - and the 1052 load is destructive- so apps need to be -reinstalled-) - so I'll live without VVM a bit longer... Having to also re-load apps is a real time killer ! Thanks to Jo and Marcus for all the updates- Iearned a lot- I'll try this with the next 10.3.1 leak

But if you backed up before you start everything, you can still restore apps when all is said and done. There are a few apps with important or complicated data associated to them, and I restore those, and only those. The rest I just reload and start over.

Yes, the entire process start to finish is a few hours for me because, like you said, the reloading of apps is time consuming.

So do I, and it takes about three hours. Let me ask you, what do you do about Browser Bookmarks, SMS messages, and Word Substitution entries?

I have a lot of accounts, including 4 email accounts, and a lot of apps, that all need to be reorganized back into their correct locations and folders. Then some stuff that re-populates has to tweaked a little. Like all my Evernote folders in Remember that restore from the cloud, but colored green by default, and I have to go through and color code them again. Custom sound profiles, and then the individual apps within the sound profiles. For instance, for some reason when all my email accounts get added they default to sound OFF in notifications. Restoring SMS messages takes a while, but I can't let them go because there are a lot of important customer and vendor messages in there. Restoring Browser Bookmarks is tedious, as is re-entering all my word substitutions. All my Cloud Storage (Dropbox, Box, and OneDrive). Re-organizing the HUB accounts. The list is endless. I'm reluctant to put too much in the 1052 load, as I want to keep the restore as basic as possible and just use it to get VVM up and running. So, either you put a lot of configuration into your 1052 and are gaining it back whenever you restore from it, or you don't have much on your phone. Thank God most of my critical stuff (Contacts, Calendar, Evernote entries) start rebuilding themselves from the cloud as soon as I configure the associated account. I do save some time by going back to the original backup that I do before loading 1052, and restoring some complicated app data - like the login credentials of all my surveillance cameras in Tiny Cam Monitor Pro, DVR Commander, and about a dozen other apps. That's all I take from that backup though - just a select few app restores.

I don't. I do my word substitutions again as I go. I rarely need to save sms messages. Most of my phone can be backed up using fire chest. And I only have 2 email accounts. Lol all I have to do is reinstall my apps

That's good, Jo. You travel light, and it's working well for you. :-)
For me, I literally run my job from this device. My accounts, apps, settings, and configuration is very extensive . I've gotten pretty good at rebuilding, but it does take a good chunk of time and it's not something I really love spending my time doing. Too many other things going on. I'm glad this install seems to be working well, I can stick with it for a while. Now, I always SAY that, but somehow I'm weak at resisting the urge to install the next leak anyway. It's a sickness..lol

Yea you skipped a step. You have to use a 10.2.1 back up with visual voice mail working after loading the file on a 10.3.1. Then it will work.

    Posted via CB10
Jo, trying to use your method. I had 10.2.1 with VVM working. Did a backup. Installed 10.3.1.1151 full from auto installer. Installed the VVM 538 file manually.

Now trying to restore the 10.2.1 backup (without the runtime). BB Link will not let me restore from the backup, it says my BB ID does not match. I've only ever had one BB ID, and it was definitely the same when the backup was made, and now on 10.3.1.

?? How am I going to restore from 10.2.1 ??

That's weird. Try logging out on link, and logging back in. I'd restart the phone while doing this. Or maybe you didn't sign in to your BlackBerry services when you loaded the OS. You cant skip that part of it or it won't let you restore.

You don't restore from 10.2.1. Autoload 10.3.0.1152, sideload the VVM 538 file and then restart the phone. Verify VVM is working and then backup. Autoload the 10.3.1 OS you want, sideload the VVM 538 file again, restore from your 10.3.0.1152 backup (without the runtime), restart your phone and verify VVM is working. Hope that helps.

Jo, have you tried pulling all the 538 related bars from 10.3.0.1052 and loading them on a 10.3.1 install? I wonder if those in addition to the 10.2.1 vvm bar would work and are what is being replaced when you do the settings restore of 10.3.1. I would try it myself but I don't have vvm on my account at the moment. Just curious, if it worked that would be a much easier solution.

Yea I've tried everything. Even replacing the sso agent.
I've done just about everything I can possibly think of nothing works but a restore. For some reason no matter what you do. It get stuck trying to connect to the voice mail set up server.

Yup I'm having the same issue on .1151. I followed all steps but still just stuck on connecting to voice mail. Does anyone have Verizon vvm working on 10.3.1.1151?

Thanks jhimmel, that's what I thought. Maybe my backup somehow got corrupted? I'll just redo my backup and try again.

Good luck Furell. Follow the steps exactly. I also found on occasion it took a couple of reboots in the last step to get it working.
