I am unable to restore my SMS database from version 10.1.0.4285.

I have tried each leak from the last few weeks and after installing each one and then restoring my data, SMS database is blank.

    Things I have tried:
    1) downgraded BB Link- didn't work
    2) installed each leak to see if this was a bug in leak
    3) reverted back to TMO original OS (10.1.0.283) restored SMS (and rest of data), backed up, installed current leak, restored from 283, NO SMS.

I am now thinking this may be an issue with my SMS database, but not sure how that is possible. I would really like to move on to a new OS, but I cannot be without my SMS database.

    PLEASE HELP???

I am sure I can buy the SMS backup program for $1.99, but not sure that would work and I would like to solve this the natural way.

    thanks.

It's a known bug with SMS, leaks, and Link, some get lucky some don't

Just checking. But have you given it time?
My texts don't appear for 5-10 mins after a settings restore.

Yes, gave it plenty of time...the data base is blank. No entries whatsoever.

Kris- it may be a bug, but with all the smarties out there, is there no way around this?

That's just it, with how new BlackBerry Link is and BlackBerry 10, we still haven't figured out exactly what the bug is that causes SMS to not restore. It could be something with the core OS, something with the messaging app, something with the radio for all we know.

Take a look at this though, http://forums.crackberry.com/app-ann...ft-ltd-828002/

I haven't used it myself as I don't believe in backups/restores, so can't speak to it, but it may help

This is another puchase-able app and I feel like that shouldn't be necessary.

I can't believe there is no other way around this.

How can you check if the database is blank? I don;t know where its located.
Isn't it possible to copy the database yourself?
    Thanks

I am on the same boat with you.

It happened to me the same and at this moment I have already spent more than 4 hours to try to find any solution.

In case of success Ill let you know asap, please do the same favor to me. My text messages are so important to me. Now I am really pissed off on myself that I was in a hunt for having bigger Build OS version ....

I am really shocked that with all the knowledgeable people out there, no one has a solution to this issue. There must be a way to get the SMS database to restore. I know it backed up correctly because I can restore to 10.1.0.283 or 10.1.0.4285. Anything past 4285 the database doesn't restore.

    PLEASE HELP?? Pretty please?

As a reward, I will even offer a 2013 Limited Edition MLB All Star Game program (worth a whopping $15! and a full set/sheet of unripped tickets to Futures game, HR Derby, and All Star Game) Not going to interest everyone, but a cool collectors item.

I never ran a 42xx release. Try restoring sms (settings) onto an older (<4285) release. If that works, backup (settings) from the older release. I'm guessing the issue is 4285.

I did that by backing up on 4285, going to factory settings (283), using DBB Tool I lowered the OS version of backup to 283, and then restored on 283. The SMS database showed up fine. Ran another backup, flashed to a 45xx build, restored backup, NO SMS DATABASE!

Let me know if there is a step I am missing or another way to do this.

Same issue as you. This is the one thing preventing me from upgrading to a recent leak. However, I understand this is a risk we take with installing leaks so we can't really blame BlackBerry on this one.

I am not blaming anyone!!! I just know there are some people out there a lot smarter than me with a lot more experience with stuff like this and while I have been struggling with this issue for weeks, there is a possibility it is an easy fix.

Keeping my fingers crossed and hope to mail out your reward on Monday morning!

Atm. the best solution for us, problematic guys on 4285, is to buy (1.99 afaik) SMS Backup app from app world and then restore them through this app.

Worked for me like a charm and saved my SMSs.

I have spent almost whole day and night tryin all the combos and nothing helped. Only this workaround seems to be the only solution for me and worked for me.

It really seems, that the 4285 dump is somehow corrupted for us ( every backup scenario is different and unique, so we are just unlucky). Or we can try to wait for another leak and flip a coin for a restore result.

OS10.1.0.4828 plus updated version of Link solves the issue with restoring SMS.
