A friend just got a Z30 through shop blackberry to use with his Tmobile plan. I recall reading somewhere that 10.3.0.296 supported this wifi calling feature, can any TMO users confirm if this was the last 10.3 build to allow it?

Yeah. I have a Z30 on T-Mobile and no wifi calling (in San Diego) even with their official 10.2 release. After reloading their official OS it tells me that it is available, but no icon to turn it on or off. I downloaded the wifi app, and does not let me turn it on (it is grayed out).

BB10 is hard coded with a list of hardware ID's permitted to configure IMS (Wi-Fi calling) for T-Mobile.

Unfortunately, unless you can convince BlackBerry to alter BB10's carrier-specific config files, there is no easy way around it.

Then of course there is the issue of getting the wifi calling enable app onto the Z30. But all the app does is toggle it on/off, it still requires the OS config file to make it work.

Well, he loaded 10.2.1.3175, it didn't work. He called tmo and they enabled something on their end. It works now for him. So, for the guy that mentioned it didn't work on 10.2, call cs.

He said the icon appeared. I think they enabled something at CS and it was pushed to him. Trying to get more details.

So it's safe to assume 10.3.0.296 is the only 10.3 os that it works with? (q and z only)

When you start up BlackBerry World, there used to be a T-Mobile Recommended apps section and Wi-Fi Calling was under that. I haven't seen the section lately with the latest BlackBerry World.

There are a few things Customer Care does:

    1. enter a E911 address to the account
    2. enables Wi-Fi Calling on the account, just a toggle on their end
    3. pushes a "refresh" to the SIM, which requires you to provide them with a SIM number and do a reboot

I haven't heard of a Z30 working with Wi-Fi Calling yet. This is good news.

How come you said it worked with the Z30, but in this next thread you are asking for help today? http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-le...l#post10819816

What are we missing from where you are at in the process now?

I was going off of what he was telling me. He at one point got an icon but then it didn't work. I'm doing this remotely and over the phone, and was given some misinformation. I told him straight up today, based on what I've read here, is that the z30 simply isn't equipped on a hardware level to do wifi calling. I think that's one thing we can all agree upon. I'm hearing conflicting reports from what he tells me, what he says BlackBerry and tmo support is telling him as well.

I'd love to find and be able to provide some definitive answers. I'm on att so I can't test out variances of os builds, bars and radio files available on different help threads.

Something to ponder - when I had my Z30 running 2977 on T-Mobile I could always see under "Settings>Network" the words "IMS: Disconnected" (obviously since TMO never carried the Z30 or put out an OS for the Z30). But doesn't that imply that the Z30 IS setup for WiFi calling on some carrier? And maybe it does have some firmware that needs to be activated? Just asking (sold the Z30 to wait for a Classic)

Wifi calling will NOT work on 10.3.0.1154. At least not for me (pre-paid account), but it DID work on 10.2.1.2228/3358.

Even if you have the app, you will get "Error: ER06 "OTA failed" when you try to enable it.
This is with the 10.3.0.1155 radio version.

I have tried the last known GOOD radio version (for me it was 10.2.1.2229, and MAYBE 10.2.1.3182/3359) - no dice. It is broken somewhere in the core.

I have a sneaking suspicion that WiFi calling is possible on the z30 if BlackBerry were to enable the hardware id's in the TMO carrier profile.

ER06 means that there's no E911 address associated with your account, probably because you're a pre-paid customer. Usually, if you're post-paid, your billing address is the E911 address. See if Customer Care can add an address to your account, then try Wi-Fi Calling again. Also, they need to activate the Wi-Fi Calling feature with your account/SIM on their end.

    Everyone,

In light of T-mobile's Wi-Fi calling push with the new Wi-Fi router, iPhones, IMS-VoLTE etc, can we petition/tweet BlackBerry, Michael Clewley, someone, anyone, to enable IMS settings on STA100-5 Z30's, Passports etc running 10.3?

Or do we have to do the same to T-Mobile instead? I am now flabbergasted as a 13 year Tmo customer & a 10 year Berry user that we are being shafted. I am genuinely tempted to ditch both & that doesn't come lightly, as I like both companies. Not ranting or ignorant, just that it is possible & it seems it's just a finger pointing game going on, only hurting the consumer of both brands...

I have a Leap so don't get me wrong here. If you are using the Leap on T-Mobile you should know that the Leap does not have T-Mobile's new band 12 LTE which they are deploying nationwide. Also, the Leap will NEVER get wifi calling because it was never carried by T-Mobile. Sorry.
