Now back to 663. I'm surprised how people are willing to take the plunge even without working phone calls. I guess the phone in the smartphone is waning out.

Personally I have an unused line on my account that I'm going to throw a dumb phone on and forward the calls.

But even so, they need to be approved for the market, right? Otherwise you'd end up with a bunch of phones that don't work because they use the wrong frequencies.

The -2 for example supports all frequencies in India as it is not much different except for one band.
I personally use the -2 and can confirm that I get HSPA+ without any problems.

I don't doubt that. My point was more about the fact that there is a form of regulation going on, a proces of approval before any phone gets released on the market. And while I don't pretend to know exactly how the Indian market works, it could still explain that certain demands were made that led to the -1 release there, instead of the -2.

Should have thought of this. I think I can do that as I use a 2nd phone anyway.

For sure the phone has to pass the regulation, but that would be more to do with the ministry of telecommunications than the carrier. The -2 would have also passed through it without any issues.

I was thinking the same exact thing. The most basic and expected feature is missing from this build. Many are going to regret installing after a while. Haha. I'll be waiting for the next one. Got 4633 today though.

Speed isn't a good measure of the quality of these chips, it certainly a part of evaluating and comparing two systems, but far from a conclusive end. The STL100-1's GPU architecture is more solid in some considerably important ways. In my opinion of course...
Must be the difference in the CPU contributing to these results. In that case the -1 users have a reason to rejoice.

I'm compelled to agree, stl-1 users got jerked. I wouldn't mind a thread, asking Thor in good faith, to replace some of the supporting stl-1 users device with a 2 . Adam has my vote!

And yeah, it sucks. Maybe I'll start a petition in the leak section, see what others can achieve. Not even Kris returned from his sleep, but leaked an OS too!

FYI I was able to restore from my 10.1 backup files. I got my password keeper data back! But my settings from .483 did not restore so I pulled the 10.1 settings and they worked. With that said every time I have booted since I restored my application data I get "Account Management application did not handle 'exit' message and it was slayed". Kris said he was getting this, without any restore on the Q&A.

I may end up wiping again any way, just figured people would appreciate the info.

That's a valid point, when I look at the regions where it is sold it makes sense maybe to have an option to buy this device, but when I think about all the traveling one can do with a BlackBerry, I find it hard to rationalize having a TI chipset sans 4G.
In Hungary there's no love for LTE, even if we were the first country in Europe that have LTE available for end-users. Since then... As I previously mentioned, Vodafone doesn't even plant to roll out in the near future. However, I don't give a sh*t about LTE, I'd still prefer to have a compatible model even if the service is not available.
And the funny thing there's no such Q10, so they sell those devices with LTE support. Even Telekom (T-Mobile) has only STL100-1 and they have LTE. But Q10 is not allowed on the network yet. When iPhone 5 came out, they pushed out the OTA 5 months later for LTE... And the prices... One of the most expensive mobile experience in the world. My friends in London can call Hungarian numbers cheaper than most of the actual citizens can here...

I'm not very sure about the GPU, since I saw a video comparing the -2 vs the -1 in loading apps and other stuff and the 2 was definitely faster.

    Posted via CB10
I'm sure none of the OS is GPU-bound. The -2 is likely faster because of other things.
