Access android settings and click on your Google account and enable syncing for gmail. This should stop it from crashing.

Wasn't aware it required a response. Saw it. Wasn't interested.

    Why?

    Why?
For one thing, it's paid. Two, I want an app that notifies me from the app itself, without having to be in active frame. I don't need notifications in the hub if I have an app. And it's not an app, it's a dedicated browser. Nothing like the android version.

Regardless, I would think it would provide various capabilities you want.

Background Android apps often are the source of nasty resource consumption issues on BB10, for one thing.

Re: the paid aspect, I often wonder what people value their time at. If deliberating and diddling around trying to get something to work for weeks or months is really valued at less than $2, people must be valuing their time as basically worth nothing.

It's not that I value my time at very little, but time is free (when you're not at work, that is). Money is not free, at least not for most people. I have a project that if I put a reasonable value on labor, I probably have as much time in it as I do actual money, and that doesn't bother me because paying someone else to complete it would have cost me at least twice as much. Keeping the dollars I make putting time in at a job is worth more to me than my own time. After all, what's more important to save, time or money? I understand that android apps eat up background resources, but I don't run very many android apps to begin with. All in all, it would be better to have a headless native email client other than the hub, but since we have the hub, probably not many developers would consider it worth their time to develop such an app. As it stands, I have yet to find something with comparable functionality to the hub, so I'm sticking with native email support at least for the time being. This side discussion is off topic of the OP, so I'm finished with it.

Tens of thousands of apps in BlackBerry World already rely on the Android runtime to function. It was part of the strategy from the beginning in order to help quickly build a base of applications to use on a brand-new platform in a market where the major competition already had nearly one million apps in each of their own app stores.

Taking it out at this point would be business suicide - it would instantly destroy the ability for people to run a huge number of apps they likely already have on their device, including such "headline" apps as Skype, Slacker Radio, eBay, and so on.

It has already proven its value. Whether BlackBerry wants to further expand its capabilities is just icing on that cake.
Slacker is native. I agree with the rest though.

I honestly doubt that they would remove the android player. Not only would they lose a lot of customers that rely on android apps, they would also have to rebuild the os at least partially if not fully. I really don't think they can afford that right now.

Can someone answer if there's been any official commentary on BB10 moving towards 100% compatibility with Android through he simulator? I can't see why they wouldn't attempt to because its the most logical direction for them to conquer the enterprise space, provided the Android functionality without the data leakage from Android, but I can't seem to find anything official if that is there intent or speculation.

At this point, it's purely speculation, hence the title of this thread and why you can't find any hard info.

No, the title does not need to change. Until someone posts a link to an official statement released by a BlackBerry exec, this is all only speculation, which the title clearly states. So why would the title need changed? To confuse people? Ok, so Google play didn't make it in by .14xx. Obviously, people are still enjoying participating in this thread, which is obviously still pure speculation.

The only official statement I recall was one where they said there were "no plans at this time" which is vague, could mean a lot of things and does not stop anyone from speculating as much as they like.

The actual phrase was "no planned support" for play store or Google services. That doesn't say or mean a whole lot.

So you accept that Google Play is NOT in 14xx, and therefore speculating about Google Play in 14xx (as per the thread title) is null and void, but you insist that the thread title DOES NOT need to be changed.

    Logic at play here.

Doesn't it make sense to simply change the thread topic to accurately reflect on the conversation? If it helps to avoid confusion or undue hope in the near-term, isn't that reason enough?

I would be up for changing the title. I would like to see this thread continue under, as mentioned, general speculation of Google Play on BB10 (any version).

With the version number in the title, new posters will not contribute as new info appears.
