I think I may be interested in loaning my device. How long do you think you might need it for?

Haven't had a chance to tell this yet. It doesn't resolve anything, but it's what I tried.

Friday night I tried installing 10.0.10.6xx. Of course the older OSs are blocked from installing, so the autoloader gave me a blocked OS error. I immediately tried the autoloader for 10.3.1.1151. Booted with a blue led, no setup. Didn't stick.

Then I ran the autoloader for 10.1.0.23xx. Booted with a blue led, no setup. OS stuck fine. Ran a security wipe. Turned on to boot. Same blue led, no setup.

Then I ran the autoloader for 10.1.0.4780. Same as above. OS stuck fine. Security wipe. Same blue led, no setup.

Then I did the T-Mobile OTA upgrade to 10.2.1.2228. Blue led, no setup. Security wipe.

Then ran the autoloader for 10.2.1.3442. No blue led, still no setup. Security wipe.

Then used Sachesi to install 10.3.0.1418. Blue led as soon as Sachesi Rebooted it. No setup. As I remembered from my last Sachesi upgrade to 10.3.x, everything isn't wiped after the first reboot. It wipes after the second. Security wipe. Now nothing stays.

Lost the power supply on my PC at the end of all this. Borrowed a laptop and downloaded link and the 10.2.1.3442 autoloader. Ran it with a security wipe. I've gotten a blue led once in the last half dozen reboots. Might have been before security wipe.

Hope to have PC working again in a couple of days.

Just a word of warning. "cfp erase" is considered non-working on secure (retail) devices...

yep, because we're not randomly put any range in it
...or by reading the help file already included in the utilities you've been using. But whatever.

And we all already know you chose a random range. Sorry if I revealed the recipe for your useless secret sauce.
We all know that BlackBerry is a secured device, if SIC use or choose a random range which is not for the specific device, it will cause an error and we can see it during the erasing process I hope in the future you won't make any statement about something that you don't really know it...

I'm not going to say that SIC works better than an autoloader or worse, but we have already established that it doesn't solve this issue. I don't understand the need for continued attacks on both sides. There's already a thread out there dedicated to SIC, shouldn't those discussions be there...

Can we just move on and try to help each other in a constructive manor?

So here it is The Challenge
Something to try when your next upgrade fails
    Flash Region 1
    Code:
    c:> cfp load -q your_radio.signed your_coreos.signed
Check with Sachesi if you've got the correct OS version. If not, flash Region 0, as it could be that you have a problem with 0 and I have with 1.
    Code:
    c:> cfp load your_radio.signed your_coreos.signed
Be careful, don't flash the desktop file or you'll lose everything.

Also check with an Android explorer to see if you've got duplicate folders

Thank you so much everyone. I am sure we will solve this problem. Crazy question, does anyone know what bar file is the voice command prompt?

Need I remind y'all, beyond it being a potential unfortunate cause, which is unlikely, this thread is not about SIC.

    Let's stay on topic please!!!

I hereby kindly ask everybody to keep this thread on track. Focus on the problem about the blue LED etc.

Also stop the name calling and/or personal attacks. It's ok to disagree but keep it professional.

    It's not BGR...

Just remember there are 2 aspects of the boot process being discussed.
    • The blue light is perfectly normal and when it lights up, it means that you don't need to go through setup.
    • Some of us have a NVRAM problem which messes up the boot process. The wrong region is being loaded and the OS is being rejected. It's something BlackBerry can fix once they decide to make 10.3 available to legacy devices. Right now it's for the Passport and the Classic.

What we need is a new CFP which doesn't crash and does a better job at resetting devices. All the commands I've listed, allow some of us to upgrade, but it doesn't fix the underlying issues.

This information is relevant to this thread because users who rely on these utilities need to know exactly what happens when they are run. I have no idea whether these operations have any causal relationship to the phenomena users are experiencing in this thread, but this information might better explain what is really happening to the devices they own and use these utilites upon.

In the interest of clarifying the operations performed by the utilities available in this forum, here are the commands that are run by "SIC Multiwipe and Load 1.1":

Looking at the script that wu wei posted, it seems like all the functions of SIC Wipe are based on something called "cfp.exe."

Did the SIC wipe team make that program?

What part is presumed to be the problem?

No they did not. cfp.exe is made by RIM/BlackBerry.

CFP (Wireless Device Command-Line Programmer) is made by BlackBerry, but it's not officially released, so it's a dangerous tool, because unlike leaks, it can damage a device.
    "-u" is useless
    "erase" is dangerous

I don't know if all people affected by the booting problems used SIC at one point or another, but if they did, then we know we have to be more careful around CFP.

Just a word of warning. "cfp erase" is considered non-working on secure (retail) devices...

What does this mean? Your logs showed Success! When you ran it.

The blue light is turned on for device "in production". I interpret this as devices which have already been released and are in use today, as opposed to dev, insecure, in pre-production, etc. The script queries the nvram and acts accordingly.
The led turns to blue at run level 0 (low level hardware init) and the script disables some dev only features. It's then turned off at the end of the boot process.
The fact that some people see it on for a while just indicates that the boot process never successfully completes and after a time-out, the device just reboots because something went wrong.

I'm not understanding? Our devices boot with a blue led. It turns off at the end of the boot process. We've never gotten setup, even when new. Are you saying this is normal?

Any version of 10.3, except Dev, won't save anything. Are you saying this is not related to the blue led, and instead it is related to your rebooting problem?

I am currently without a PC, but I'm dying to try some of what you tried.

Many in my countries experience this bs error. In many carriers not just Tmo. Some guys managed to find out that the problem lies on the flash chip that is used to store os information. The flash chip (which comes from china in "refurbished" phone) is basically a dummy chip with copied info from a genuine chip, which stores info of 10.2.1 osand below. That may be the reason why those chips cant withstand the 10.3 one, they just give up every boot because every parameters is for 10.2.1 (dev os usually use older parameters, just like windows 10 dev now uses same parameters as windows 8.1 - this may be not true though). For the blue led, it could be indicator for faulty in base infrastructure of phone, I dont know as I'm not working for RIM to conclude, this problem appears on CHINA REFURBISHED PHONES, or not genuine phones. If the genuine ones also suffer then it must be the problem of flash chips.

I think this is a real stretch. Refurbs are done by the factory, and fakes are just that, fakes.

Sachesi Device tab can show if your device is refurbished. I don't think this is the issue.

No what I mean is the problem is certanily due to flash chip, so any solutions must be coming from there. Maybe a low-level tool to diagnose the chip, I dont know.
