I'm not aware if I have posted this in the correct forum section, I only ran into this whilst running the latest available leak.

I had installed the latest skype and had noticed very high battery drain. upon checking device monitors CPU section I had noticed a lot of activity on PIM services. After checking: Settings > Accounts
there was a section showing that skype was under '3rd party application' and after removing it my battery issues ended, also going into the skype android app I unchecked 'sync contacts'

Sorry if this issue has been addressed previously, I just wanted to let you guys know in case this affects any of my fellow crackberrians

Oh man, thanks so much. I had been experiencing very severe battery drain, even though I'm on Z10STL100-3/10.3.1.2708. I just checked my 3rd party accounts and it turns out that Shazam has been running in the background.

I'm glad it helped it must have not been OS but the fact I'd installed a later version of skype that had contacts sync as default setting.

If I was you I'd go into shazams in app settings page and uncheck any of its settings that would sync with your device, after that I would perform a soft reset by holding both volume up and down buttons to restart your device

Thanks ZeBB... I have turned off sync and Skype would occasionally run in background... hope so it has some effect on battery life now!

I believe the native one is modified. For me, the native one keeps me logged into Skype whereas the Android version logs me out when I close the app.

Because MS/Skype never wrote a native app

Any benefits to one over the other? I guess Skype Android would be the latest and greatest, but would the BB World "spin" of this app allow for better control over permissions or any other benefits? Someone above said the BB one is modified, but is it? (I also don't experience the sign out issue from the Android version.)

Hmm, after deleting shazam sync it shows back up if you open the app. I don't see any setting to stop this.

The android Skype version in BBW is simply sh*t, it drains the battery even if it's off and not signed in.....
I uninstalled it and never looked back

    You meant uninstalled, right.
I had the same issue and had to do the same.

There is no need for the android port in my opinion as we only needed that during the early days to make it more compatible with the runtime (10.2)

I had battery issues on earlier OS versions with skype, due to the fact it would start randomly running and was also triggering other android apps to start. I use an android app called 'APK Permission Remover' and would remove the 'run at startup' permission and that helps with apps you don't want in the background.

You should look within shazam for a setting that is making itself associate with PIM services.

Can't seem to find any such setting within the app.
