May be , it mistakes your + sign with * sign. lol.. BB voice command has a problem with basic arithmetic calculations. What do you get if you say 7*2?

Wow, this is actually pretty big progress for voice controls, not gonna lie thought voice control would continue to suck, but apparently BB is working on it, now having a realistic voice (not this robotic sh it) would be nice to have.

Can one use it to control music playback? For example, ask it to play a specific song, or skip, etc.

Do you really need to tell your phone you love it? I can't believe that telling my phone, "I love you" and it not responding was a problem. Smh. Anyways I'm sure that the "problem" is fixed on 10.2, I would also recommend you download SayIt for these kinds of questions. Works great at answering those.

I'll say it before and I'll say it again: voice commands =/= Siri

    Nuance = voice recognition engine
Siri = voice recognition + basic language recognition + machine learning

BlackBerry voice commands are very basic: you have to state the exact sequence of words, otherwise you won't be understood. Siri is much more flexible in this regards. And, although both BlackBerry and Apple may use Nuance, I'm convinced that Apple's version of Nuance will be trained far, far better than BlackBerry's (it's a guess, but I'm pretty sure Apple isn't sharing any of the spoken queries).
You do know that siri was BOUGHT not developed by Apple, and pulls all its data from data bases weather it be yelp, yahoo, wolf alpha etc. Google now puts siri to shame, but we don't go yelling about it on imore.

Bb10s voice assistant is new and is already catching up to apple, what will be even funnier is when it's on par with siri, which will show BlackBerry didn't need to buy a company to do it.

If the voice command in 10.2 could include the ability to ask questions like currency conversion ("What's the currency conversion rate of 1 Canadian Dollar in American Dollars?" or "How much is one British pound in a Canadian Dollar?"), unit conversion ("How many kilograms in one litre?"), where to find the nearest _____ store, when's the next bus arrival time for _____ stop, showtimes for movies, etc. that would be a substantial leap.

While I don't really care either way.. let me just say... BB has used Nuance forever. Their old voice dialing app was based on Nuance and this is all the evolution of it. Technically speaking, BB had all this crap before Apple but whatever, Apple owns it, created it, raised it, put it through school, fed it, bought it it's first car, sent it off to college and put it to work.... in the minds of most people lol.
Yes, BB is very good about having unpolished, early versions of products that people don't appreciate, then someone else comes along later and makes it better (or hell, leaves it the same) and manages to sell it 1000x better than BB can.

That is definitely true, and repeatedly demonstrated...

I was just messing around with voice commands and it's exactly like siri

Early build for 10.2 is phenomenal. I was running 10.2.0.341 because of 4.2.2 android runtime but it wasn't suitable for a daily driver.
Now I'm running 10.2.0.93 with 10.2.341 radio and this is unreal

Yes, whatsapp is in my HUBB, although I don't know how to take out the "Joyn" It was probably built into the leak and I can't delete it lol. Any suggestions let me know.

BB voice commands is not perfect. It should have given me the answers instead of asking me to search the results from internet. I hope I have better answers next time.
i agree. That's where it's lacking. I'll be checking it (I have 10.2) for making calls. I hate using the voice cmd for making calls as it has too many steps compared to legacy systems. On OS 7 I'd say "call Charles". It would respond "Charles mobile 1. Calling" phone rings.
On BB 10. It asks which Charles and provides specific names (my husband is in my phone as Charles and my father in law is Pop...but some how it associates him with Charles too). After I confirm Charles, it says, "I can't find him" or which number, then (finally) once I can't get any more annoyed it says, "Do you want to call Charles now?"
by then I hang up -_-

You have to format the question correctly...

This version of VC is waaaaay better than the former, with understanding voice commands. Just give it time to populate, and keep your mouth off of the mic. ;-)
