    Lets extrapolate then:
    -Iphone had it first.
    -Everybody knows iPhone has siri.
-nobody knows BB10 has this, and that will continue for the general public for years to come.

    Hardly irrelevant...
What's not irrelevant is that blackberry had vlingo released on Bb in 2008 and siri was a app released in 2010, so goes to show who really had what before the other, siri was not the first and was not a apple innovation.

And anyways, when I use voice control on my z10, it actually works and does what i want compared to siri on my work issued 4s. If people knew that siri would be known for the bumbling "assistant " it is.

That's insane! I think I'm going to die.

    Are you using 10.2.0.93?
How good is it as a daily driver? Battery and functionality wise.

I can do that with the 10.1 version. Try yourself before you go and die on us.

Apple didn't own Siri for a while, it was just an app.

Whatever said and done guys. Packing extra features in BlackBerry 10 is always a very good thing.

If voice command wasn't there then all would be so disappointed with BlackBerry.

Now its there with more advanced features we should support it.

Wish 10.2 came with better icon sets too.

Weird, my old 10.1 didn't.. maybe I confused it with 10.0.9. Are you also running a leak? Can anyone with 10.1.0.85 confirm it works?

While I don't really care either way.. let me just say... BB has used Nuance forever. Their old voice dialing app was based on Nuance and this is all the evolution of it. Technically speaking, BB had all this crap before Apple but whatever, Apple owns it, created it, raised it, put it through school, fed it, bought it it's first car, sent it off to college and put it to work.... in the minds of most people lol.

It's good news to see BB working on improving voice commands. I can't wait to try it on 10.2 I wish I read this thread before purchasing sayIT 4 days ago.

Exactly, every time we talk new BB features somebody has to turn it into a vs Apple thing.
Anyway, the wife and I were fooling around with Siri and the Z's voice assistant, asking them questions and sending texts to each other and this updated version is such an improvement over the previous. It understands me and I can see actually using this now. I only wish it could be put into a "listening" mode for the car, instead of having to hit a button you could just wake it up with a voice command...

I got one in OS 10.1.0.2062 too. It's awesome. It's not a question who had "siri" first. It'll be a question who makes the best "siri" in the end. The fact that BB is making improvement in their voice commands is good news. I hope that BB will make the best "siri" app out there.

That was kind of the point. It's all based on Nuance.

And just because you swear words get blanked out, doesn't mean you should be cussing like a sailor. Keep that in mind.
I won't ever use it. But for fellow iPhone users coming to BB10 and are already complaining about lack of apps. This gives them something to look forward to. Personally I think this is dumb but look at how many comments this thread got over something so simple and that is taken from the same server as siri (Wolfram Alpha)

I agree that it is stupid but look at the interest. I'm excited for other BlackBerry users.

I have Sayit and it's very good for verbal responses to most questions

10.2 should give them more options to incorporate into the phone

From what they have said they currently have very limited access to send commands to the phone or to map keys like Vlingo had on the legacy units

Either or love Sayit and like the current BlackBerry assistance too, even in its limited form .
It's all going to get better .

Yup. When BB voice commands answer your questions and do your tasks, it's the end of sayit. You need to remember that the answers for your questions are taken from a database. When BB voice commands provide you the results from this database, it hardly justifies to pay 3 dollars for sayit while a free BB voice commands app can do everything which sayit does.

Hey guys! These are some really nice improvements on the voice recognition in 10.2
Eventhough i don't use it that much actually, it's still good to know that BlackBerry is always improving the Software and ist abilities

Another question, maybe someone can help me on this:
Could anyone tell me what the voice recognition on 10.1 is already able to do? Except of setting the alarm as we already saw above. A small list on the features would be really cool to have

    Thanks!
    Greetings from Germany

I'll say it before and I'll say it again: voice commands =/= Siri

    Nuance = voice recognition engine
Siri = voice recognition + basic language recognition + machine learning

BlackBerry voice commands are very basic: you have to state the exact sequence of words, otherwise you won't be understood. Siri is much more flexible in this regards. And, although both BlackBerry and Apple may use Nuance, I'm convinced that Apple's version of Nuance will be trained far, far better than BlackBerry's (it's a guess, but I'm pretty sure Apple isn't sharing any of the spoken queries).
