Sorry, this app is using the NEW API.
Playbook Wifi updates are currently still on the old API.

Oh right, I would have realized that if I'd read a few posts up.
On a side note, do you know what the 3mb update was today for 2.1?

To be honest, probably a locale file that was whitelisted for 668.

You'll see 668 is now released (291+MB update).

Cool app, but I noticed it didn't detect sys.data.carrier_data.bar for 10.0.6.545.

You're right. My BDM also does not give me sys.data.carrier_data.bar though. That may be why my microSIM isn't working?

No it still will not work. Those lucky Americans only AT&T works right now. If you dig in that file you will see what I mean. I have been trying to test my Dev out with my data plan but to no avail.

What might work is if we can get our hands on the data carrier file from the playbook 4G.

... present you with the first stage of my findings, a firmware grabber application...
you're are already well 'cushioned' with so many thanks and likes,
suppose you should cope with critics well...

messaging of bar files is rather academic because most names will not change
    anyway.

more important is their META content, indicating which which app has been altered,
    which resources/dependencies may have changed.

additionally which files probably became part of the kernel (more difficult though) or at
    least been dismissed entirely.

I don't know whether you may amend a logfile marking those files with a checksum to
previous versions for further investigation. on this occasion I'd like to ask for someone
indexing each system file with its current abilities/content e.g. sys.android.bar contains
    xyz etc.

that gives us at least a chance to discuss what to expect prior someone sacrifies her/his
    PB again.

    regards

This doesn't work for Playbook betas because Playbook still uses the old API. Although Playbook will likely use this API in future.

The old API is quite simple and doesn't need a special app (see yohanes script).

    Added a Linux binary.

If you want any other OS (eg. Playbook, etc.) just ask.

xsacha, I'm curious, how do I download PlayBook .bars?
Tried to find about yohanes (the same guy who developed the localbar and localbar2?) script, but no luck.

    get-os script currently doesn't work.

    Code:
    −
    <errorResponse version="3.0">
    <code error="1009"/>
    </errorResponse

Yeah it hasn't worked for a long time.
    Hence this app
Although I didn't bother adapting his script for the new Playbook API because I'm fairly certain the Playbook API will be gone any month now.

    Hi Xsacha,

Thx. for your efforts working/hacking the PlayBook.

I own a PlayBook 3G+ and needs to get access to OS 2.1 to test/use it with BlackBerry Device Service in the latest version.
According to several forum posts and articles OS 2.1 is available in some coutries for the PB 3G+, but not here. Would it be possible to add the 3G+ model so Sachup kan get the download links?

I don't know how RIM detects if a new OS is avilable for the specific PlayBook. Maybe you can explain a bit about it? I am wondering what parameteres (SIM, IP address, ....) is part of the filtering process.

    Best regards,

    Jens-Peter
