Yeah I think this is just an error with the device when trying to update certain applications. Hopefully fixed in future firmware.

Of course you released the most boring exploit first... But seriously thanks, this tool is awesome. Only making it opensource could improve it. Have you considered doing that?

Edit: the ability to back up and restore via Linux is amazing by the way.

This tool is built upon my previous work, Dingleberry, which I opensourced last year.

It'll be very surprising, but... because you are not a BlackBerry employee.

It's weird bc I was finally able to sideload via command line but it never worked with Sachesi.

Sachesi uses a special method which isn't available via any other tool.

    Special method for what? Sideloading?

    Yes.

This is why it behaves differently.

Gotcha. Well I'd like to thank you for this tool. It worked perfectly backing up and restoring on my mac. Only had issues with installer. As I mentioned in pervious posts, it also tells me my passcode is incorrect most of the time and I know I entered correctly.

I'd be happy to test future releases of mac or Linux versions.....

That's a bummer. What version of osx are you using?

    OSX 10.8.

It's OK. I figured out it was QtCreator causing the system to freeze. Compiled by command-line instead and it's all fine.

To use the "Install": Can this also be used to restore? What will it restore? All apps including side loaded apps?
All settings and data? Pardon me for my dumbness.
Any way, this is a great utility and maybe I can fully rely on this instead of that flaky Blackberry Link program.
Thank you Sachesi for this great program and all the work you are doing on it.

Thanks Technically it can replace Link but I haven't added anything to do syncing of media so that would still require Link.

To backup and restore you'd use the "Backup" section. You can sideload apps using "Install" but if you just wiped, it won't restore the application settings.

Will this actually change the PIN of the device? I guess, the idea is to let you upgrade a device with a blacklisted PIN in the autoloader. But if you connect it to the newtwork and two devices end up with the same PIN it would disrupt routing messages in BBRY's network...

To upgrade without pin list, just split an autoloader and combine it again.
Hopefully people distribute without the pin list already so it really isn't an issue.
I think the pin list is only for prototype devices though.

But if you connect it to the newtwork and two devices end up with the same PIN it would disrupt routing messages in BBRY's network..
From my experience, there aren't any issues. Both devices get the messages.
The exploit doesn't work out-of-box. It's for advanced users.
