Planning a trip to Florida in a couple of weeks. Was thinking of grabbing a Roam Mobility SIM card to use while traveling. Anyone have success using Mobile Hotspot in this situation.

I use Roam mobility quite a bit. As a hotspot it works in a pinch, but I'm not sure how reliable it is if you're trying to connect multiple devices. Also, since RM uses T-Mobile, signal strength may vary depending on where you travel. Orlando, Boston and San Francisco worked fine for me. Vegas was a bit weak but that could be because of the casinos.

Overall, it's a great deal and much better than paying for roaming services with Rogers, Bell or Telus.

I would agree as it being a good deal. Last year I used T-Mobile SIM and a Z30 and Hotspot worked fine. But there have been reported problems with Hotspot for BlackBerry on Roam Mobility. I only need to connect one device so your experience is encouraging. Thanks!

Load pdanet from June (android app) works fine provided you use Bluetooth on the PC side.

Just tried hot spot in Orlando last week and couldn't get it to work, though I only tried for a few minutes and have never used the hot-spot function on my phone before.
    I should add......with ROAM mobility.

If you are going to Orlando there are a lot of public wifi spots, especially around the attractions.

Was in Minneapolis a few weeks ago and mobile hot spot on my bbz30 only worked when I was on 4G. When I was on LTE it did not work. Roam worked great for everything else.

Tried to use Roam with hot spot on my z10 earlier this week in Buffalo and it would not work. I called Roam and they said you cannot use hot spot with Z10. Otherwise Roam is amazing.

Again folks, June Networks' "PDANet" (it's an Android app.)

It works on T-Mobile service that does not have tethering enabled. On 10.3.1 it works in the background (when tiled) as well.

AT&T has figured out how to block it but T-Mobile (and their MVNOs) have not. The only limitation on the BB10 handsets is that only the Bluetooth connectivity works as it is unable to get the WiFi into "AP" mode nor does the USB connection option function. But -- bluetooth connectivity works flawlessly.

I'm in Orlando now and it is working fine for me. There were a few places i didn't have coverage inside some of the parks but there was generally free wifi available. I would highly recommend it. Nice to not have to worry about using too much data and you can't beat the price.

I have never been able to get my hotspot to work. It always says "Mobile Hotspot unavailable due to a TEMPORARY network problem. Please try again later" Would be interested to know if other people have got it working.

The only other gotcha is that you probably shouldn't text people in Canada. It is free to you but may cost them as much as 60/message to text you. Not a big deal but you need to use messenger or something other texting thing to talk to people back in Canada. I think the big 3 have caught on to people doing this and it is just there way of still gouging people. It's ridiculous that it costs more to text someone in the states.
If they can't gouge you then they will gouge your family and friends.

Another good thing is I left a message on my Canadian number saying I am traveling in the US and left my new number to contact if it was an emergency and it has certainly cut back the number of calls I receive.

    I highly recommend Roam Mobility.
