Can you please tell what is your average RAM usage on the 10.2.0.1047 ?

I usually sit between 500-900mb free. Honestly even with a lot going on it's pretty hard to bog down the OS heavily after it settles. I regularly run dlna with heavy email, bbm, web browsing, cb10, Google voice etc. QNX is very good at memory management.

Little fact: (Just wanted to put it out there)
RAM is wasted if it's not used. A lot of free RAM doesn't mean anything excepted wasted capability.

The reason I'm asking is the following:

I only want to see if this petition is meaningful at all. I haven't tried the 10.2.1047, will wait for more stable release. I'm satisfied with my PB, using it mainly for music, books and light browsing. But the main annoyance is the bad android runtime. Would be nice if Google maps and Street view will run on it. I've tried some apps from BBWorld and also sideload, not working well or crashes.

I mean if you are asking in regards to the pb the real answer is simple. I use over 1Gb at almost all times.

As I can see from poll results, the idea of 10.2 on PB might work for light usage only.

    10.1 or 10.2 , it's always above 1GB usage.
free about 800~900, and never less than it when open - use app - close app.

Not enough ram for the playbook, it has been checked with a dumbed down version of BB10 and the opinion is we would want to downgrade if we upgrade...

They won't release an OS for something just for "light usage", they are getting eaten by the media as it is. If they want a tablet they will make a new one with 2+ RAM end of story. On my little phone (Q10) I'm using 900-1.1GB; imagine on a 7" Playbook...

I'm not talking about releasing new OS for PB. The petition (its not my idea) request opening boot-loader of PB, so anyone who want can load the 10.2 (dev version?) on PB. That's it.

There's nothing stopping you from trying. but I don't think that it will work. And you can definitely brick your pb.

Ya know, I just installed 10.2 gold developer os on my dev alpha b and it runs almost as smoothly as my z10. For those who don't know, the dev alpha b has only 1 gig of ram.

BlackBerry never said the issue was ram that was a bunch of users interpretation and extrapolation from what BlackBerry called "performance issues." personally, I think the cause of poor performance is related to all of the hardware. From the 2 year old wifi radios to the subpar gpu. Throw it all together and you have a terrible user experience. Bb10 can run fine on 1 gb of ram but it cannot run decently on the playbook.

You are actually 100% correct. But it is easier to slow it down for sure.

Mine is honestly so random for example now I have 700 mb free with only 3 active frames open, but other times I can have more apps open with closer to 8-900 free. Phone is very responsive regardless of free ram I find. Although my z10 has gone through a random laggy phase once in a blue moon but 95% of the time it's smooth as silk.
