Hi Crackberry nation. I've installed leaked OS's before so I'm not new to this but one thing has always bugged me and I'm wondering if anyone can answer this.

Every time I've installed a leak, I've always had to "fix" everything back to normal because BlackBerry Link didn't quite work the way I expected. I'm not talking about installing or side loading apps again, that is easy. I an talking about re linking all the contacts from FB, twitter and linkedin. Will BBLink help restore the same contact links? What about sms messages?

The last time I installed an os leak, I couldn't get back a lot of the notes from the remember app, and my password keeper new entries were gone as well.

Anyone know if link will keep all that and properly restore those apps/functions?

    Thanks in advance.

Link is kinda wonky, sorry homie... I've had better luck with the new leaks and restoring. I went from 10.0.9.422 to a bunch but when I got 4543 and 4633 it was pretty seamless. I don't know if that helps you. But I noticed I didn't lose anything after I restored my accounts and linked it.

Sometimes new code and old data don't play well together. Hope this clue helps...P.S. I never restore unless it is from the identical build.

That's one of the reasons I'm hesitating on the new leak. I'm on Z10STL100-3/10.1.0.2354 and so far it's great but the new leaks are intriguing. I just hate how I have to fix my contacts again and again and again. I have contact X and it only restores the main gmail/local contacts and it's a pain to link all of the social network ones. Another annoyance is the Web bookmarks. Their all screwed up!

I started fresh on 10.1.0.2354 because I didn't want to restore a potential bug from the last OS that had a serious battery drain.

How have some folks properly restored? I know you're supposed to restore the settings one by one.

Jeez this just says it all!

As, an aside yes many have been able to backup and restore from BlackBerry Link, but those who have issues, many of them have been persistent, some have found resolution through basic troubleshooting, so it is at this time case-by-case.

I've had to relink my contacts with every leak...for me it is a small price to pay to have the latest and greatest (i tend to wait until i have plenty of freetime to do it, which means it is usually a day or so after leak install). SMS seems to restore fine for me as well as remember.

Since the .4xxx leaks I have had no issue with contacts linking together, i would create my gmail account which is the account that hold my contacts then add all of my social network accounts and all link with no issue. However, what I did on an earlier .2xxx leak was instead of just linking my contacts together i made sure that I changed all of the contact name information on my gmail contact list to be the same as to what the name was on the socail network, since then I have not had any issue with contacts linking.

I haven't had an issue restoring since .1880. None on the. 4xxx at all, including Contacts. For this weekends update to 4561, I uses Sachesi to backup and restore. It worked perfectly, and so much quicker than BB Link.
