further update on my progress, brought over from my previous post edits:

might look into editing the manifest.xml for my amusement, wondering if that is all that controls what version Link sees, but doubt it...

haha so it is all that it is.... so if you update to the leak on your z10 and then do a backup, rename it to .zip and edit the manifest.xml to have the 2432 or 2454 OS at this part: <Platform type="QNX" version="10.1.0.4285"/> , add it to your backup overwriting the previous, rename to .bbb again, and then you can restore

a lot of work to just get the updated facebook but at least now we know we can carry over old back ups!

    images below:

edited manifest with .5555 as the OS, will not load over the 4285 OS
restoring it works, all that was changed is OS version

sidenote: lol at me editing my PIN in one and not the other.... #fail

Prepared a post if this is proven to work, any additions, comments, edits are welcome:
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stumbled upon this method this evening...

Please try it and don't beat me if it doesn't work for you :P
Try at your own risk, as usual!

Backup your device using BlackBerry Link
    Rename your backup to .zip
Open it with WinRar, 7-zip, WinZip, etc. (I use WinRar)
Extract Manifest.xml (it is right there when you open it)
Edit Manifest.xml at this line to the OS you need to restore:
    Code:
    <Platform type="QNX" version="10.1.0.####"/>
    Save Manifest.xml
Add the edited Manifest.xml to your renamed .zip file
    Rename your backup to .bbb
    Restore

Post how it works for you, I've tried it messing around with different OS numbers with my Q10 and it seems work.

So take the .bbb file rename it as backup.zip, unzip it, change OS compatibility, re zip file, rename from backup.zip to backup.bbb?

surprised we haven't stumbled upon this before, so far successful

the Manifest.xml also contains BBID, Hardware ID, and PIN so I can't provide a universal backup but it is doable if you follow the steps

I wonder if I could take a back up change HWID to the ID if the STL100-1 so that way users just need to install a back up..... could do a back up of a blank new OS

Not sure if this would work, the issue I stumbled upon was it makes you sign in to a BBID before backing up or restoring. I'm not sure if you could just edit the email in the manifest (quite possible with how simple the OS trick was), but there might be other bbid "tracks" left elsewhere

I downloaded this already, now all I need is for it to be tomorrow, so I can get my Q10.

Will there be a release of this for the Z10?

    Hi Todd,
I just loaded this leak onto my Q10 and at&t visual voicemail is working fine.

A tip for triggering set up:
    1) go into phone app
    2) swipe down and enter your voicemail passcode into the voicemail setting
    3) call your voicemail (let the phone auto-enter the passcode)
    4) after logging successfully into voicemail, hang up and call voicemail again.
    5) A few moments later, a prompt should appear asking you to enter your visual voicemail passcode
    6) enter the vvm passcode, click okay, and your visual voicemail should momentarily appear in your phone app.

Note that you should have vvm on your at&t account. If it's not already on your acct, call at&t to have it added.

    Thanks.
Had VVM on my Z10 so I have the plan.
Tested and still no VVM in phone app nor Hub.
Called voice mail 3 times. This was a new from scratch install. Not sure what is going on...

Who told you that 10.2 is coming? How can they release 10.2 just right after 10.1?

I happen to know several BlackBerry employees running 10.2... and the SDK is due "any day" now.

I got bored so decided to experiment.

    I loaded 4285 OS with 2355 radio onto Z10

then using sachup got qc8960.factory_sfi-10.1.0.2354-nto+armle-v7+signed.bar and used sachibar that to install that bringing the OS itself back down to 2354 (to be compatible with 2355 radio)

That left all the other apps at the higher versions, including the browser (10.1.1.136), facebook (10.1.0.88) and so on.

Phone works. Testing other things now. So far nothing abnormal.

I had to call them to get vvm added to my account. You can try adding it through the online plan change or feature change on the att website

I'm pretty happy with .2354 and 1917 radio files on my Verizon Z10, are there improvements here worth updating for?
I've got a couple of issues with .2354, have to use WiFi for Remote File Access for example.

Well, initial results on my Z10 hybrid are promising.

Boot time is back, it appears to be part of the settings app, not the core OS.

The new browser version fixes a few annoyances I was having.

I haven't encountered any problems yet.
