Never try taking a screen grab on a PIN watermarked OS/device by pressing the volume up-down buttons. It don't like it! The LED looks like a UFO and the device reboots.

Downloading an autoloader for it as we speak.

Nothing else to see here - move along.

    Me of course!

Unless you have a pre-production device that you are trying to take a screen shot with and the device goes nutso on you as well.

It was funny when it happened at the time. I've never seen the LED do that before.

Not only did this device have a pre-production OS installed it IS a pre-production device as well. The inside back of the phone is marked X00 where a normal Z30 is marked as such.

I suspect the reason for such a low OS number is it may have sat unused for quite a long time before I acquired it.

Last night I tried to capture a screen shot before trying to reload the OS and when I did the LED rapidly rotated between red-green-blue and white then rebooted. The only way to get it to stop was by waiting a period of time then rebooting a second time, whereas the rotating would slow, but not completely stop, or even rebooting it a third time (or just leaving it alone for a while followed by a second reboot). If you tried taking a second screen capture when the rotating had slowed, but not completely stopped, you were back to square one.

Pre-production test device I'm typing on right now. Never had an issue taking a screenshot using an early beta, but installed a more stable OS as soon as it was available. LoL, I'm pretty sure it's had every OS imaginable on it over the years.

    Upgrade that dang thing Rusty!

I also have an X00, and I have no issues taking screenshots. You will find some interesting things, like rebooting will ask you why you rebooted, and you can send device logs to Blackberry in the settings. Mine is an STA-100-3. Bit off topic, but does anyone know how these devices are treated for software updates?

In the wild, just like any other VZW Z30. IDKY y'all have chosen to run such old, unstable OS.

That's odd. My X00 is running an older version than either Verizon or Bell (the carrier I use it with) say is the latest.

I just ran into that after my -3 locked up. It went through that flashy led thingy again after holding down the power button in order to restart it. I wondered if I should send off the report or just ignore it. I sent off a small comment to see where things go.

    Xaiux,

Does your device have something similar to 0796-XXXX on the right lower portion of the phone?

I found this while pocking around the interwebs this morning. https://fccid.io/document.php?id=2076888
    Look at the second photo.

I am to assume it also has Remote Log Collection as well?

Yes, it has Remote Log Collection. The front of my Z30 actually has a black coating on the chin part, which I assume covers some identifying info. If you really want, I can take a picture of it. The edges of the coating have begun to kind of come off, but I use a bumper case that hides that.
