I borrowed a Q10 with an OS version of 10.2.1. I would like to autoload a 10.3.1 to it but when I return it after a month, I need to downgrade it to 10.2.1 again. Would I encounter any problems if I cycle OS versions this way? Can it be traced on the phone that I used an un-official version when I return it to the official one? I will not do any restore. Thanks for the input.

    Yes, with an autoloader
    No, cannot be traced

It cannot be traced but it cannot be done without a restore either.

You'd have to backup while on 10.2.1 (let's call it the 10-2) and then load 10.3.1 (either Sachesi, Blitz or autoloader), and when you are done playing, use a 10.2.1 autoloader to rollback and finally load 10-2 back.

It could work, provided the Q10 does not have any accounts loaded (either mail or social). Else the owner would most likely know something happend since he would have to input all passwords again.

Other than this, you can do this multiple times and expect the device to perform properly on every turn (and every OS).

While the general idea is accurate, the finer details were missing from your post.

Additional question: As I can use Link to restore to the official OS, how long do you think the reload will take? Will it download the 2+Gb of OS data or is the OS already cached by the Link?

It can take from 30 minutes to countless hours. I'd use an autoloader.

Link has been a very unreliable tool in my experience.

Ok so its not cached by Link as it will download the data only during restore. And yes that could take long and become unreliable especially from slow servers. Thanks a lot pips.
