I haven't noticed much going on in the forums with regards to OS development. Used to see a few "spotted posts" a week but not seen anything in a while.

Would those that know better please chime in with your thoughts? Is OS development slowing?

Definitely the development is NOT slowing down but for sure I am happy to see less meaningless posts with spotted here and spotted there..

The more solid the OS, the less spottings will be seen. Development of new functionalities takes time so being less frequent is not a bad thing. As long as BBRY keeps trying to make the OS better, I don't mind the wait.

I'd rather see less "Spotted" OS. To me, "Spotted" OS are useless without leaks.

Funny, I check the usual sources and find a few new OSs spotted:

    10.2.2.1225
    10.3.0.572

The 10.3 listing makes sense (production happily chugging along), but I still don't see the point of 10.2.2. It's being developed for no apparent reason.

True, or perhaps they are tagging along for 10.3.1 dev later?

Does anyone even have an idea as to what 10.2.2 is? What does it improve? What's the point? Haha. I've never seen a screen of it. It's always just spotting. 1225 seems high enough that it could go gold soon if they plan on releasing it.

On the contrary, I see a lot of reasons to carry with 10.2.2 branch. 10.3.X.X is a massive jump with huge UI overhaul which needs a lot of work mainly from design team and may or may not be released by the end of the year. 10.2.2 is a evolutionary branch not bound by UI changes so may be released much sooner.

Is it possible that the 10.2.2 is being developed for a new playbook or even maybe just for Z10 and the higher os for the Z30 and the newer devices that are coming.

I don't think so, Sims said they aren't planning another tablet in a press release

I get skeptical as I get older, I'm sure if Apple was asked if they were working on a new device or iPad they would tell us no until they were getting close to releasing,

Well since they said 10.3 isn't coming to older devices, I would assume 10.2.2 is for the older devices until 10.3.1 comes along

the difference is Blackberry said it in a press release, Apple says it unofficially because they don't want anyone to know what they are up to.

Blackberry usually lays out everything on the table or people find what they are working on on their latest leak.

Exactly what I'm thinking, a lot of people will be angry if they have to wait till November for being early adopters.
