Just wanted to ask if there's a step by step tutorial on how to get and install an OS leak.

I'm a debug token key guy, but I've always been hesitant to do leaks.

I'm hoping to put the newest Netflix on my z30.

How about searching the OS Leaks threads. No reason to provide a link, they are all in the same sub forum. Time to do some research.

    1) Download leak for appropriate device and if zipped unzip

    2) backup device - use fire chest and sms backup or blackberry link. Each have their benefits. Personally I use all three and restore from all three. I don't know if it's restore setting or restore app data but some people have issues after restore from link. Anyways. Mine was fine this time. But I've had problems in the past.

    3) restart your device

    4) open leak file and when bootrom initiates plug your phone into your computer and it will auto connect and reboot.
Edit : make sure link is closed completely. In fact it may be a good idea to restart your computer as well before opening the leak file.

    5) that's about it.. when the update is done you can do a security whipe ( some do but I don't ) and set up your accounts again.

Instead of being a jerk, how about answering my question. I looked through some threads, but I didn't find anything like BDot laid out.

Honestly why when someone on CB asks a basic question does that automatically mean they get flamed. Buddy, if I found what I was looking for, I wouldn't have asked the question.

If your use to debug tokens then a leak should be easy. Back up everything and the autoloader does the rest. I did a wipe after autoload and it cleared up some issues ( BBM icons, media player).

I'm still unsure if I should do it or wait. 10.2.1 looks unreal, but I'm a chicken lol

If I put the leak on, do I still get carrier updates above 10.2.1?

Yeah, if your carrier pushes an OS version higher than 1055

There is really nothing to fear, just do your reading and make sure you DL the correct autoloader for your device. The Benefits of. 1055 are worth taking the plunge. I loaded it 20 min after receiving my brand new Z30 and I have been running it on my Z10 since it first dropped without radio. My Q10 also has it loaded and that's my business phone. Very stable and incredibly delicious new features.

If the current 10.2.1 leak was something like 575, I probably would suggest using a 10.2.0 leak if your carrier doesn't have it. Now that we're in the 1xxx leaks, go 10.2.1.

    Its flawless.

Point of mention, as well, to find ANY instructions on loading this, no search is even necessary, except go into Forums>BlackBerry 10 hub > BlackBerry 10 OS>Leaked/Beta OS and everything you will need is right there. Which happens to be where you posted this in first place. Just like all other forums, always best to look before you ask or yes you will get flamed especially with something that is right there easily found.

Lol you'll thank us later. It's like riding a bike, you'll realize how easy it is after you do it and wonder why you never tried before. Next step after loading 10.2.1 we will teach you how to install android 4.3 emulator on your computer so you can get a GSF ID and download apps from SNAP. Or maybe we won't lol

No, you guys still aren't being consistent. For example, I just looked at SirJes thread for the 10.2.1.1055 leak and there aren't instructions in there. Neither is there a sticky for installing leaks -- there is however the sticky for going backwards to a factory release.. This will be the first time for me, and the main confusion for me even after perusing for the last couple of hours is whether or not I should security wipe (and what even does that mean -- is it "factory reset" in Link?) and when.

Thank you for the "Berryleaks wiki" hint and the link someone else posted, but shouldn't that be stickied? If it was, I didn't see it.

The security wipe is done right from your phone and can be found in Settings under Security and Privacy. It scrubs your phone of basically everything except the OS. If you decide to do it just know it can take a while depending on how much you have on the phone.

As to whether you should or shouldn't it's really your call. Many feel it's a prudent thing to do, others like myself never do it.

If you decide you want to wipe then you want to do it right after you load the new OS. There are some who also suggest doing it before you load the new OS as well. Entirely up to you.

Good luck. It's really all quite painless and you have a ton of support here in the forums if you need it.
