I have the proximity problem on my z30. Bbve shows the sensor works for far but keeps waiting for close no matter what I do. I was just got the ota update to 2339 but the issue persists. I'll have to try an autoloader like some have suggested. Hopefully the backup/restore goes without a hitch. I'll report back any progress.
Don't restore, test your sensors. Then if all is good, restore. If there's issues after you restore you'll know why I never restore. Ever

Install the 858 core, see if that fixes, it fixed for me 2339 didn't fix it, had to do 858 first, then fixed for newer builds.

Just tried loading the 858 core. BBVE still shows waiting for near proximity sensor so I'm guessing it's not fixed. Possibly because I was already on 2339, but who knows. I did a full backup before trying this so my next step is to autoload the entire 858 build, test sensors, then restore.

EDIT: So far nothing has worked. Each time the BBVE test shows that Far on the proximity sensor passes but keeps waiting for Near no matter where cover the device. This has been the same with 2339 with 858 core, full 858 autoload, and 858 then upgraded OTA to 2339.

I'm getting the same results with my Q10. I was on. 2339, and I flashed 858 waiting for a fix. It didn't work.

What are the chances it's a hardware issue?

I would discard it. The self test says the sensor is OK, the "Far" position is OK, but the "Near" position is not detected. All points to wrong sensor calibration data, which is a software issue.

Thanks for the insight. I'm just adjusting my habits to it for now and put a request in to a local repair shop to keep an eye out for any sensors or, if it's part of the motherboard, any dead z30's to cannibalize.

In bbve does it show sensor available or unavailable?

Available, and passes the Far setting. However as I've said in previous posts, other OS versions don't affect it, even going back to the 700 builds, so at the time I didn't believe it to be a software issue.
