Hi guys. My Z30 is currently on 10.2.1.3062.

Last night I decided to install 1154 using the Sachesi method in the op here. I ran a custom backup using BlackBerry Link.

I followed the steps laid out in the op and, almost right away, I got an error message in Sachesi saying "the install requires 2.6 GB of free space and you have only 1.8 GB free".

So I went ahead and deleted 900 MB of games so I had 2.7 GB free. Then I restarted the process. It churned away for 3 hours and got up to 173 of 201 on the progress circle. Then it gave me a "communication error" in Sachesi.

My Z30 is still on 3062 and is working fine, with only 1.5 GB of free space and all those games are gone!

    Any suggestions?

Wow Patrick, your phone is full! First off, get yourself a micoSD card (if you don't already have one) and transfer pictures and some of your media data to that. Also it may be a good time to clean up unused apps in your device to free up some space. Aside from that, when you use Sachesi you can take that Blitz file and remove the other OS packages in it (ie the Passport-Q10 etc) just make sure you don't remove the z30 file. Other posters may be able to help you with this more than myself (such as Robbenezer).

You can just open your downloaded Blitz file , then right click on the file you want to delete and hit delete. Note that deleting files that are zipped can take quite a long time depending on the speed of your computer. Because of the zipped file size it WILL take longer than you think! As to which files you can safely delete, all of the language files are ok to delete except yours, of course) and of course any apps you never use (I never use Evernote, Foursquare, Linkedin etc). You can also safely delete any file with "QC8974" in it which are for the Passport. There should be 2 of these qc8974 containing files, on is 33,789 kb and the big one is 329,084 kb. Even if you just delete these 2 files, it should give you enough room to install. I think you need perhaps 10% or more extra space as a buffer to overcome the error. For instance, at 1.8gb free, I believe you still need to free up more space : 1.8gb + 900mb= 2.7gb -which only allows 100mb buffer space. I could be totally wrong here, maybe someone else can correct me. Also make sure you do a hard boot after deleting games, media, apps etc to make sure this space can be re-allocated. Then try dragging and dropping the Blitz (minus Passport OS , languages etc) again.

OK Brookie, I shall give that approach a shot. I have already done the hard reboot but I'll do it once more to be sure. When I started, I had 1.8 GB free then I deleted 900 MB of games, ran Sachesi, and now after I got the error message, I only have 1.5 GB of free space and all those games are gone... Grrr. I don't think I have enough other apps/pics etc to add up to more than 200-300 MB to allow the 10% extra free space you're sensibly recommending. So the key will be to see how much the file size comes down when I delete those files you mentioned. Thanks for the idea and the "how to".

I would have thought I'd be at 2.6 GB free now. So I think the failed Sachesi process "left" some temp files somewhere.

There are plenty of other larger files in the Blitz that can be deleted including the radio files for the other devices (q10,Passport etc). I believe the radio file you NEED is 52,012 kb and the ones that can safely be deleted are 33K and 28K etc. I should also warn you that some people would have recommended an autoloader going from 10.2.1.xxxx to 10.3.1.xxxx but I have been testing that out on my z10 (4 times to be exact) using different configurations within 10.2.1.3442 to 10.3.1.1154 and all has gone extremely well. At times it may appear stuck and the reboot, in particular, takes a long time, but just be patient. I hope that you made a complete backup with Link, and if all else fails, you can go back to your original OS. Good Luck!

But I think that is his problem --Sachesi looks at a 2.8 gb file and says no go dude file is too big to start. So maybe make that file a little smaller for him---I think thats the way it works thats why I suggested he remove some of the larger files like the unused radios.

Yup I agree, that it's a good possibility and didn't think about it that way at first. Either way removal of non essentials won't do any harm.

In a week or two I am receiving a Verizon Z30 and I think it has 1151 on it. Should I use the Blitz to upgrade it before I start using it or the 1154 autoloader.
Or is there really no difference between the two and I should just leave it on 1151?

    Thanks

Blitz you won't lose stuff, works like an upgrade; sideload it's like a format, all fresh new.

Autoloader wipes the device, you lose all your data and have to set up from scratch.

Blitz is non destructive and mimics a carrier pushed OTA update.

Lokomoko, your USB connection isn't being recognized by Windows. The quickest way to solve this is to install the newest version of BlackBerry Link, then attach your phone via USB. This will set up whatever drivers are missing from your Windows computer.

Once you have done that, you can close Link, detach tour phone and then run Sachesi, and then re-attach the phone. At that point it should be recognized.

No drag and drop option available.
I extracted the zip files got 210 bar files. Tried installing manually. It says Unsafe Blitz detected. 3 OSes and 6 Radios in the log window.
And i get a pop up window saying "The blitz does not contain compatible firmware. No compatible OS".
    I'm on 10.3.1.997 dev version. Z10 STL 100-1.
