I was getting battery drain and slowdowns on 2204. I loaded the 841 radio and the one newer bar onto my Passport and it's been going great.
Looks as though our most recent posts crossed. Since I now have the 840 apps loaded and the 2204 core OS, maybe I should use Sachesi to figure it out and load in again all the newer 2204 apps over the 840 apps, but of course keep the 841 radio. Sounds like the perfect hybrid!

OK, I understand the argument for autoloading rather than nondestructive loads, but my question is, with a well working hybrid in place as described, regardless of the roundabout way it got there, is there a point to doing an autoload now just to get the full 840 OS? I /almost/ did the 840 autoload this morning to fix my corrupted and malfunctioning 840/841 OS, but was able to rescue it with the nondestructive 2204 core OS load.

And I'm even wondering if this hybrid isn't better than a full 840, but of course there's no way to test that. (Back in the stone age day of OS 7, I rarely had anything but a hybrid loaded, and we all thought the hybrids were better.)
If your phone is working good, leave it, then when the next OS comes out it might be better,

You won't get a definitive answer on that. Results vary by device, carrier, install method, user, and what you had for breakfast.

I have 2204 loaded on a z10 and so far no big bugs to report. The only issue I have encountered is that BBM contact pictures keep disappearing. BBM wasn't showing in the hub but a restart resolved that. Nothing else major to report.

I've got a problem, have seen it on two VZW Classics, mine and another. Once the 10.3.2.840 update is completed and restarted, BlackBerry Protect wants you to confirm your email address. The problem is that the email is never sent. I run both email servers, so I can look at the logs and nothing from BlackBerry is sent.

It seems that Protect IS enabled, but it's confusing.

Are you thinking that the 841 radio is better than 2205?

It's looking that way, at least for the Passport, in terms of battery life, mainly. I'm going to load the 841 radio on my wife's Z10 with the 2204 OS to see if it improves the Z10 battery life, as well, where it's more critical than with the Passport.

Same thing happened before when I updated to 680 or 798 - can't remember from the two. I've sent verification and waited for an hour for the confirmation but nothing has been sent. Checking back BlackBerry Protect settings after an hour, was surprised it was already confirmed and enabled.

guys, where can I find the bar for passport radio?!

the file which is in first post, although it says .bar.zip - when uzip, I get meta info folder and .signed file and sachesi says it's not installable :/

    Update:

Nevermind. Downloaded via desktop browser from the OP. It downloaded as bar. Downloading using the BlackBerry browser on my passport downloads as bar.zip lol

Going to check if this radio is better than 2205 as my passport would not survive 24 hrs with same average usage :/

Could someone try to use prime instant video. I can install it without a problem from the amazon app but when I launch it it tells "device is not supported". Had has worked until now.

Passport users how is the 840. It seems so far I read pretty good after you all using the autoloader

Is 840 the same as 2252 version?

There's no double typing on the 2kx release.
Me I'm like, why would anyone w/ a keyboard go for any edition outside of the 2K+ branch...

Maybe it's of the carrier release line...?

So, I loaded up the 841 radio on top of 2204. 2204 I loaded up via the blitz process about a week or so ago. I Sachesied the 841 radio bar yesterday. I only have been on this hybrid mix for about 24 hours, but so far the battery is better over 24 hours than it was on the 2205 radio with highly similar use. Call quality is tougher to determine, since I really had no problems on 2205. I guess since this 840 was a Verizon OS, I wanted to use the 841 Verizon radio. So far, so good.

pc is the best, but if your mac is partitioned you can also do it that way.
Unfortunately it is not. I'm having the weirdest problem with my wife's Q10. I have a PC and it no longer registers on my computer. I've been trying to upgrade her OS (she's still has 10.2 since we're on Tmobile).

If you have any additional suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. I've performed a hard boot, removed the sim and it still doesn't work.

    Cheers

The hybrid, 2204/841 is continuing to impress in terms of performance and battery life on my Passport. Too soon to know yet on my wife's Z10, but I suspect it will be the same on that device.

That said, it's a little embarrassing that AT&T is catching up with us with its dissemination of 640 to the masses. :-) Where is 2252??

Are you upgrading by auto loader. Plug your phone into the PC and make sure link and everything is closed. Then start the exe loader and hold the power button in and see if it grabs.

I gave straight .841 a shot for 24 hours on Z30 from .2204. I did try an autoloader instead of Sachesi this time. Not real "buttery". And I waited for Protect to work and it was unable to connect. I loaded the .2204 core tonight and after the reboot I received a notification that I was connected to Protect.

    Thanks for the tip.
