Personally I've never had a problem with the 2XXX branch of radios.

Some radios seem to work better for some, depending on their carrier, and region.

There is no hard set rule. You have to do what works for you.

    It will work again

Let me explain to you why it get's broken if you use a 3digit radio on a 4digit os.
There where or there are 2 branches of BlackBerry 10.3.2
The moment you are on the higher branch (4digits), a lower branch radio (3digits) kills NFC cause that radio wasn't really made to use with that os.
But still, it is better if you don't use NFC.

So you don't have to worry mate.
From the very first second you load a 4digit radio on your 4digit os (10.3.2.2639 with let's say 10.3.2.2253) it wil work again

Hope this helps you out a bit!

I don't think it is broken. Mind you I need to actually try an NFC application but I am able to flip it on and off with 859. AFAIK it's only the Passports that have the NFC issue with older radios not the other devices.

Exactly. And you can't even load the 859 or other xxx radios on the Passport SE, because they are blacklisted on the SE.

As mentioned by me several times on this thread and others, I'm /looking/ for a way to completely kill NFC because of an Android app I use that only works if NFC is disabled, not just turned off, obviously. When I had my PP OG I could load 859 to kill NFC, but with the SE I can't.

I'm waiting for some guru here to tell me how to kill NFC....

Delete the NFC file with sachesi?
Or is this in the core?

Must be in the core. I tried deleting the NFC viewer file but it didn't help even after rebooting. Maybe it's all in the radio rather than in the core. This would take some root level tinkering, I suspect, something I don't know how to do. And I was told that even the engineering screen doesn't have any NFC config, but I can't get into the e screen on my SE anyway. I've tried.

I'd really like an official answer as to why there is a branch in the OS.

Actually just for the US. Canada was even getting the higher numbered builds. Odd indeed.

Except there was a post saying one was for Verizon and the other for ATT. So is there an official BlackBerry document rather than what was heard on the grapevine (apologies to Marvin Gaye)?

I have tested on location is ON and OFF mode and found out battery drainage issues is due to location is "ON "mode . I have turned flight mode and location is ON mode for 7 hours and 45% battery drainage . The flight model ON tested of Location mode is OFF mode for 7 hours and 5% battery drainage. That heavily battery drainage is due to Location is ON mode.

    Location is always off here
Ofcourse that setting uses a lot, but i always test the os'es in the same conditions. And that's without location

Given that Z10 batteries have a bit of a bad rep my three year old battery now seems to be behaving itself, I guess all the radio switchouts were hammering it with the re-indexing! This is what my battery is now doing with moderate use!
