How is answer wrong? 6% of 1600 is 96,100% of 1600 is 1600. Your 1600x106% is equating 1600x(1600+96)

If your answer is 1696 after pressing the = sign you do not have the same problem as I do. My calculation straight through is 1600 x 106%, becomes 1600 x 1696. After pressing the = sign the answer is 2713600 on my calculator. That's an error if the desired calculation is 106% of 1600. Try 25% of 100...answer is 2500 on my Z.
Mine does the same. 1696 after pushing % symbol

    1600*106% is equivalent to 1600*(106/100*1600)
so if u apply bodmas rule it's 1600*1696

god tell me that u got this now.

Or else may gods of maths bless you

It's giving you your answer, you don't need to hit = if you do, your multiplying your number by the % (which has already been calced for you)

Guys even something as simple as 100*15%. It does nothing. That should work!

Now let's drops this stupid calculator topic and discuss all the OS goodies

It's inconsistent with calculator performance as we know and understand them. No tricks, quirks, surprises or special attributes in the middle of solving a problem. Consistency is all I ask. Enjoy your bug.
It's not a bug, it may not be performing as regular calculators, but it is very consistent. You just have to understand how this calculator works:

You enter a figure (x), followed by an operator (+, -, x, /), then another figure% (y%) and the calculator automatically returns a number in place of y% which is the equivalent of (y/100)x100 so that when you press = the equation is completed and calculated.

Therefore, if you want to know a percentage value of a number, you use X x Y% and the answer is the value after the x sign on the screen.
The only issue with this, is that one cannot enter this value in memory for another calculation.

e.g. If you needed to know 26% of 1600, you enter 1600 x 26% and the answer (416) is now displayed after 'x' without pressing '='.

For this reason, any percentages of 100 will appear not to change. EDIT: though I do not know why one would want to calculate on a calculator a percentage value of 100!

EDIT: This means that one cannot perform an equation such as y% of x [operator] z =.

EDIT: So I just pulled up the MS Windows Calculator and it functions exactly the same = normal!

I think this should now end the calculator debate.

    Posted via CB10 for Z10
According to you, what should happen after you press the = sign...? One should get 25, not 2500. Simple as that. I can not believe the instruction manual (if there were one) would tell the user not to press the = sign because the answer has already been derived and it's just sitting there in the view screen, farthest numbers to the right. Look, just calculate 106% of 1600 then add 3 to it. 106% x 1600 + 3 = What's your answer? Mine is 2713603. Over and out....

Can some one try out the calculator for me? I found a weird bug in 4543 when calculating tax. Try something like 1600 * 106%, the 106% changes to 1696 before hitting =. Was working fine in the older os versions.
Actually, this is correct and is the way that most algebraic calculators work.

    Bug alert:

There IS a bug however, in that the % key is non functional (not grayed out but not responsive) when calculating a percentage of 100. In other words, in the expression (100 + 50%), the % key doesn't work. With any number other than 100, the % key works properly.

Bizarre. I just did this on my Win XP laptop and it does the same thing. I guess I've misunderstood the function of the % key all these years.

    % key usage is to calculate "y" percent of "x" in the expression "x" (any operator) "y"%. So for number 100 "y" is the value of y% of "x". where x = 100 so Y is Y after (y /100 * 100) = y.
WHo taught you and that other guy MATHS.

PS: i know it doesnt work like Normal Calculators But it isnt a bug.
