In fact this saves a lot more than it consumes for about 90% of the users. most of us don't want to adjust brightness by hand every time we leave a building or enter one etc. I had to on my iPhone, such a mess, because the brightness was wrong almost the whole time

Hence why a toggle would be nice. My wife and I have always turned off the light sensor on every phone and kept it at 40% brightness. This is the first phone that I don't have this option.

Then you have my co-worker who has her sensor on all the time and brightness at 100% and still complains it's not bright enough. She doesn't have perfect vision.

There are different people out there, I am one who doesn't use the phone outside very often, and when I do, I don't turn up the brightness, I can easily see the screen at a constant 40%.

My wife also has the advantage here, when there is a need for her to change the brightness for a short time, her Galaxy S3 has a brightness level on the quick pull down menu. iOS 7 will also have this feature on its quick menu.

My point is that a toggle would be nice and won't hurt anyone(only phone out of the big 4 that doesn't have a toggle to turn it off). Especially for a phone that has people debating about it's battery life.

It auto-dims on my Q10, it just fades really smoothly and you can't notice it sometimes, which is a good thing! Try it out for yourself: put your phone's screen up to a light, and then turn them off, and see if the screen changes brightness (make sure you're in a dark room).

There's no way to turn off auto-brightness at the moment, but I'm sure we'll get the option later on.

It's always on (compensation for ambient) and it works exceedingly well.
