    Hey all,

My thing is "always improve accessibility for users"... Well I jumped on the 10.2 leak and was shocked and surprised to fin a new Screen Reader BETA under Settings > Accessibility.

It has several options for easily turning on/off, languages, speed/tone/verbosity of voice, keyboard feedback and other TTS options. It even has a "Dark Screen Mode" for people who are totally blind to save battery (warning you will not be able to see the screen at all). I've only begun to play with it and it takes some getting used to.

Being a Beta on a leaked OS, it doesn't come with instructions (though I haven't checked Help or Tutorials yet).

If you want to play and help to learn more about this tool, I'd love the help! Post here what you learn!

Cheers to BlackBerry for continuing to add some awesome features!

Yep. I just saw this and was intrigued. It is actually quite usable, compared to some assistive technologies. Tap a control/text once to hear the description and double tap to select it. You can quickly press the power button three times to toggle the screen reader on or off. I haven't figured out how to scroll except by pressing the spacebar or shift+spacebar for down/up, which is probably why it's in beta.

The dark screen mode doesn't work for me; I was wondering what it did. What I found funny is that it says "Goodbye" when you shut it off.

If they could reconfigure the voice so it sounded a little more natural it would be even better (that monotone voice sort of gets to you after a while).

Paired with a physical keyboard on the Q10 onr Q5, a totally blind person could actually use a touch screen phone, which I'm sure is a first.

It doesn't work particularly well yet -- clearly a work in progress, but the potential is VERY obvious for the visually-impaired, and what DOES work functions quite well.
