Yes, but they would have to be the ones to do it
On top of that, though, they most likely have a very good reason why the are blocking those pins
Don't forget there's only 2000-2500 PINs on each device list (this may be in addition to previous lists, or it may be they send out the complete list each time)

That's a relatively small number of devices and if Blackberry accidentally bricks one or two they'll just replace them with no worries.

Forgot to mention, in any official release done via ota or dm, this file is always there.

Internal builds include this as well, it might just be a file to determine who gets this update internally and who doesn't, too many options so to be safe just avoid it

For anyone truly worried, here's one safe autoloader (not creating another thread because all credit still goes to Mr BB Leak for this leak)

Z10 STL 2, 3, and 4 no pin block section.

Thank you for doing this, DarcyTallGuy. Maybe it will put an end to all the panic posts.

Thank you also to Mr BB Leak-whoever you are-for providing this most recent leak.

Now, let's all take a breath, do what we need to do to load (or not), and post constructive comments, and helpful suggestions. Leaks are a luxury, not a right.

It must be a complete list - if they want to hit those PINs that's the best way to do it.
Plus, plum text is small, very small if you compress it.

Darcy - did you just extract the three and recompile just teh OS and radio files? Curious about the massive file size difference (200MB) when the odd 3rd file was only 11KB

My tools now detect the pinblock and will display a warning if you select an autoloader with this section. *** warning that this is based on one pinblock file only, I may not have the signature figured out exactly ***

I will upload the new version in a few hours. Working on another change right now and need to finish that before it's ready.

This is keeping me so busy between this thread and updating my program that I've flashed this onto my phone and did the setup video only. I haven't got around to setting up my email accounts or anything yet.

Original was zip - I use RAR with maximum compression. Just different compression method but I assure you the difference is only that one small 11kb piece. I encourage you to double-check after download though, don't trust me because I too can make mistakes.

you should have no issues. Typically pin blocks are there for stolen devices, or devices that BlackBerry has a reason to want to disable. You will be fine. You can also simply split the autoloader and rebuild it without the pin block file.

Shouldn't be any problems at all. Theory is that it's for pre-release devices that carriers get for testing, especially if they've been lost or stolen. Maybe for Kris one day, but we'll wait and see about that. If blackberry really wants to block a PIN that badly they'll push out the blocklist OTA and then nobody will have a choice.
