Brought a new Classic the first thing I did was download 10.3.2.2639 then did a restore from the Q5 which I returned. The restore changed the phone's ID to the Q5. (Edit) BBLINK and Sachesi will not recognize the new device at all. Tried to change the ID to the new ID and did not recognize the device.

Doing a wipe now and reloading 10.3.2.2.2639

Why did it change the ID on the phone?

Why can't I use a backup from another device?

The BBID? Gee, I don't know... Because the BBID of the restore overwritten it, maybe? Like, you know, it did everything else?

Obviously you can use a backup from another device, you just did. Your issue is you want BBID1 apps in BBID2, that ship won't sale.

Can I do a particle restore? Contacts and Calendar?

I can do a device switch with the 9900 but it has different contact and calendar information.

I guess some is better than none.

Probably just the name of the device in link, not the actual phone, just rename it to whatever you want. You should be good.

I'm going to try to trick the system.

Went into the back up files and change the save back up name to my new device. Then went to BBLink and uploaded that file. After the the device was restored went in and changed the device name. Rebooted. All good BBLink and Sachesi recognizes the device as the new device.

Yes if you have your old phone. The BB10 phone was returned before the new phone arrived.

Did that the first time. BBLINK and Sachesi will not recognize the device with the old or new BBID.

After I wiped and restored it the second time everything works fine.

Would have been easy if I have the BB10 phone. This is good to know for OP trying to restore information without the original phone.

By changing the back up name to the new device ID it worked.

You can only do a device switch when you have both phones

I did pulled the restore of the Q5 the first time. You might be right. The second time I changed the name on a 2-3 week old back up of my other Classic.

The BlackBerry device name? Who cares, just change it on the device to whatever you want after the restore. This is totally normal when restoring from a backup. So long as your other data restored you are good to go, I do this constantly as a BES admin for my users when replacing or upgrading BlackBerry devices
