Slide from top and hide the bar.
Swipe diagonally starting from either bottom corner, it acts as the back button in android apps.

He wanted just the back Button and not the Full Action bar wasting space, like the Pictures App has, I think

    Do this ^^^

I always hide the bar in Android apps and just use the swipe to go back. Yes a little button would be nice, but the swipe works well. It's all about the gestures.

How would you like a back, home and show all open apps button instead?

I've found in many apps that if you swipe from "Left To Right" it acts as a "back button"

So what I've done is hidden my "back bar" and just use swipes while this may not work for everything it does for some.

Yes, this gesture is included for Android apps in BB10 and the PlayBook OS.
It's not quite left to right. It's from bottom of screen going up diagonally, either to left or right.

It doesn't work in some apps and sometimes there are issues with Android apps in landscape where it won't work or where it still works as if phone was in portrait orientation.

Even if it was just a button on the screen, where would you put it? It's going to cover up something.

At least with the full bar, the app adjusts itself within what's left of the screen dimensions.

But, I agree about just hiding the bar and using the diagonal swipe back gesture.

I use both depending on the app. And, at least it saves your preference on a per app basis. Most newer android apps follow the newer standard of building in a back button in the upper left corner of the app title bar. Although some of them forget about that feature the further you get into the app.

Would be nice if the swipe down menu had a back button on it. Then goes auto-hide with the top bar. .. Rather than having to pin it in order to use the back arrow.

The bar should just hide whenever you scroll down as an option, especially since a lot of new users don't know you can remove it

A back button on the bottom right with a transparent bar would look nice, and not waste the screen space. Like this, but with just the back button...

Don't get me wrong, I really couldn't care less about having the button. I use the swipe all the time and I find it works well.

you basically start around the bottom middle of screen, and swipe finger toward the top left corner. this is a "back gesture" for all android apps (that includes android ports in BBW)

I wish the gesture wasn't so similar to the "minimize app" gesture. Whenever I try to use it, I often accidentally minimize the app instead of going back a screen.

If you can't go back any further in the app, this gesture will minimize it.

Follow the first pic in my last post, not the second one. If you start your swipe from the middle it minimizes most of the time.

I start on the bottom bezel and make an upside down U gesture, returning to the bezel. It works and it avoids the minimize app mistakes.
