If that were the case then there would be no difference between just using the autoloader to load an OS, versus doing security wipes (some did them before AND after) loading an OS with an autoloader.

But there has been plenty of evidence that there were differences in the result in some cases when the security wipes were done. Clearly the autoloader does not remove everything, though it certainly removes almost everything.

Sometime when I have time to burn perhaps I'll test whether an autoloader preserves the encryption key or not. I can't find a document on Blackberry's knowledgebase right now that gives a detailed explanation of what does or does not preserve the key.
Someone above already tested the encryption key question--by accident. Lost everything on his media card. I know some people swear by adding the wipe before and/or after but I've never noticed any difference. While it may be technically different, for all intents and purposes it's the same as a wipe.

How will I know just by looking at the version numbers in sachesi? I believe it said 10.2.1.108 on the android version but I am not at my computer to tell, funny thing is that android apps launch and work but the adore processes crashes every few seconds

Yes. Using Sachesi there is no need for restore as it doesn't wipe the device. It just updates the OS leaving your data in tact.

Followed your steps. Do I need to set my Z30 to Development mode with Sachesi? I connected without setting it to Dev mode last night, started the install, woke up this morning with the progress bar stuck at "59% sending bbm". I unplugged it this morning since obviously nothing happened.

Development mode not necessary. Not sure why it wouldn't complete though. Might just try it again.

After installing the OS, I updated all applications and got an error when updating Blackberry Maps via BlackBerry World (install / uninstall recovery failed), is this normal?

If I were you I would just update to the full OS. I wouldn't mix and match the radio files unless there is something specific you're trying to accomplish.

You can easily load the full OS without losing your data and without the need to restore any backup file. Here is a link to my instructions:

Upgrading BB10 OS Using Sachesi for an OTA-like Up... - BlackBerry Support Community Forums
Hey John, just wanted to thank you for your help, got it all up and running like a charm. Sachesi did not save the files on the first download, nor did it recognize my device, but a quick restart fixed that.. Took about an hour total for the second time download and update.. which includes having to reboot the phone twice for 2 reasons.. 1: Safety precaution, making sure the system is stable. And 2: Messages and notifications would not pop after install, the screen faded like it was going to do something, but then brightened back up. But all of that in under an hour is phenomenal.

BUT.. I got her up and running and she's working like a charm! Waiting for the battery life to kick in in about another day, but all in all this guide works flawlessly. Once again thanks man!

Nothing. This is just a bug fix and stability release.

The feature list for the 10.2.1 branch has been done. It's all bug fixes from here on out - and it appears that builds in the 26xx range are being worked on. If you want new features, you have to wait for 10.2.2 or 10.3. It seems both of those branches are being worked on within the walls if BlackBerry, but still very early with build numbers only in the low hundreds - 2xx and 3xx.

I never bothered with the autoloader this time, first time using non-destructo method using Sachesi, worked very nice so far so good. It's been a few days and still going faster than 1925

Hello, just updated using auto loader then restored, now I can't get Picture password on? When I toggle it, the screen dims as if it's going to bring it on, then just toggles it off again, sorry if it's been mentioned before trying to keep up but haven't seen it yet..

    Thanks

EDIT: never mind was just the OS settling

Sideloaded the clock and camera bar, personally I don't like the 'normal' Porsche clock face, but i love the bedside mode one!

Thanks for the .rar and .bar 's

I finally got around to trying remote file access with the new 10.2.1.2141 build. On 10.2.1.1925 I could get remote file access to work as long as I was on a wifi network, home or otherwise, but not using the Mobile Network. I am happy to say that the latest update solved the bug. Both now work without any adjustment to my home network or computer! This is a great leap forward since I can now remote access files from my computer, assuming I leave it on, from anywhere there is cell service. In other words, no need to find a free wifi location. Naturally, this uses up my data plan but how often does one need to use this feature?
Anybody else out there have similar findings?

What carrier do you have. I still have issues with rfa on mobile network, but I think they are Verizon related.
