Does anyone ever question the validity of a LEAK? Installing a leak from a source other than a BB seems to be a potential security breach. How do we know that a leak OS is not compromised with a key-logger or some sort of trojan? Call me paranoid, but I use the pw keeper and store sensitive information.

Simple. An OS can only be signed by BlackBerry, unlike apps or Android OS. Leaked version are just non-release internal version, and once it's compiled, nobody can alter the code.

It's not a poison... I believe the leak should be safe.

Unless you patch the compiled code... not really straightforward but possible.

P.s. Security through obscurity isnt security

Any *.exe file can have a trojan / rootkit embedded into it.
    Just my 2 cents

Well, not unless you can forge a BlackBerry signing key.

The boot loader will not accept a file that doesn't have a valid cryptographic signature. So while you can hybrid a loader from various BlackBerry-compiled-and-issued parts what you can't do is disassemble and change any of the parts, or include one that is not signed.

With or without a leak, NSA still gets our information lol so it doesn't really matter

Secure and safe as long as you don't use your phone to broadcast your bank account sign in and passwords to the world.

Been using the CB forum ones for years (since the original Storm). Never had a problem. Just follow the instructions for loading them and start by understanding they are LEAKS. There may be stuff that doesn't work. Of course, this happens with official releases, too. However, sometimes the leak fixes something that's broken in the official release (eg. the 100-4 model random reboots that Verizon was SOOOO slow to release a fix for. The leak fixed it, worked better than the official release, and it was MONTHS before Verizon released the fix)
