    I think it is more like Windows 7, Service Pack 1, Service Pack 2, etc.

    I don't think the jump from Win 7 to Win8 was incremental.

    Sigh. I didn't really want to get into this discussion, but I'll offer a parallel of sorts. Consider this:

    Vista = 6.0
    7 = 6.1
    8 = 6.2

    "Incremental updates" can be quite significant.
    That's right, wu...no point to release an update if it isn't to improve something. BTW thanks for diving into the discussion, nice insight.

    SP's are more like getting a tune up.

    Version numbers are incremental. I think you're looking at Wu's statement as a version jump. Like OS7 jumped to OS10. Semantics..

    That's right but you should look at why MS used that numbering scheme. It has nothing to do with the magnitude of the changes that were made to the OS.

    Some Windows Apps do a version check. If the version is a whole number above 6, they would not run. So, this numbering scheme is really about app compatibility.

    I think some of you guys are over reacting. We've had plenty of leaks. For those who played a part in it thank you. I will be waiting for the next 10.2. And if it doesn't come I will do without since the A10 will be released with it pre installed. At that time I'd just wait for future leaks.

    Agree it's TMO's issue - are you privy to any info regarding a "fix" for WiFi calling? I'm really thinking of two options:
    a. Fix the app so that it works on 10.2 'cause when it works properly (as on my current 10.1.0.4687) it's quite nice if you have poor signal, OR,
    b. Fix IMS on their towers (or in their central offices) - I kinda doubt that will happen in my lifetime but I can always hope.

    I'm on Tmo also. I know for a fact that the wifi calling headache is on their end. Has nothing to do with the OS.

    And we must keep the perspective of this OS being borked. It is a known, that it is faulty. Comparing it's faults to an "official" release...I'm enjoying making the engine noise for this OS. Just my 2 cents.

    Okay this is the way I see it, there is an individual or two in this thread that's tolling around, so here's what I'm going to do, there are a few valid points here for discussion, if anyone wants to be specific and address them, I'll continue to have a discussion here, but for those who decide they just want to stir up stuff for the sake of doing so, it makes you look bad... really... If you have an opinion which can be dismissed with a simple fact, suck it up as you're just 100% wrong and move one... So does anyone have anything constructive to say?

    It seems like the same basic OS to me, just with new features added on.
    10.2 isn't done but it's not radically different in performance than 10.0 or 10.1. These are incremental upgrades.
    I don't notice any real performance improvements like you are talking about. BB10 has always performed well. What I notice are the new features. The core seems the same.

    New features will require new code so you can spot differences in code easily enough.
    I think it is more like Windows 7, Service Pack 1, Service Pack 2, etc.

    I tend to prefer logical consistency, and I am very confused here. I'm honestly not trying to bust on you specifically, but I am really not clear on how you evaluate "incremental upgrades" or a "magnitude of changes". Seems you're saying version numbers don't mean what they appear to mean, except sometimes...not unlike the famous subjective definition of pornography: "I know it when I see it."

    Other that i am enjoying this thread and like some of youre and other answers.....nope and i dont care if there is something in the pipe or not or why leaks go slow, we have a bit of 10.2 like it or leave it and i am liking it so far ( btw most technical words i dont even understand ... google translation is working over time )

    I'm with you Doc. Pisses me off that I have to go to see a Tmo rep, then have them adjust my service to state that I am in fact using wifi calling.

    If there is some lack of consistency, it is not coming from me. BlackBerry is introducing changes into bb10. It does this through updates. We have seen three different kinds of updates so far (1) Decimal point changes (10.0 to 10.1 to 10.2), (2) a maintenance release, and (3)updates that simply changed the version number but which were not designated as a maintenance release.

    This is how BlackBerry has done things
    This is not how Microsoft has done things. There is no rule that says that updates or upgrades have to be implemented in any way.

    You are looking for logical consistency but I am sorry to say that there is none.

    The more you peel away the onion, the more you will find that most things that we would like to be objective truths are really just subjective assessments. It is my subjective assessment from using 10.2 that it does not present a radical difference in performance from 10.1. That post provoked my question because it seemed that it was based on an objective characterization.

    In life, you will avoid a lot of grief if you accept that two seemingly contradictory things are in fact completely in harmony with each other, depending on how the lines are drawn. Am I right that you mentioned that you are a lawyer? I am surprised that this concept was not drilled into your head, or perhaps it is a reaction to it? I get that the world would be easier if everything was black and white.
