Because the slider would require actual R&D to make?

are you suggesting no R&D has gone into the Oslo? despite the passport 'version 1' already existing?

also, I don't care... I just want to see the slider

Specs (from the N4BB article) are identical to the current Passport, but the outside is different. Maybe different network bands, depending on where this phone is coming out.

That may be so... the LEAP would technically be a downgrade from the Z30 (regardless of its target market) yet (having come from the Z30 since release) I would consider it an upgrade as I find it fluid in every respect.

I highly doubt there was no R&D involved in the Oslo. The materials alone require it, the shape, aesthetics etc... it clearly does look different to the passport.

Anyway wasn't this one of the PKB devices that would be released this year, but Chen said may not make it until 2016?

And also, with an estimated release of the end of the year.,.. the slider isn't exactly beginning stages!

Well yeah, they've got to figure out how to glue AT&T Passport bits onto the regular Passport, but there's nothing else new about this device.

The slider, on the other hand, has the sliding mechanism that's definitely new, and if it has a new SoC, screen resolution, etc., then those have to be developed first. This is just a new shell.

This isn't the Oslo, it's the Dallas. And like Thurask said, it's just a Passport in a different shell. Nothing special about it. I know from personal experience. It does look nice in person, and I like the rubberized back, makes it easier to hold.

Maybe the same source or not, so the Oslo is full Android?

BlackBerry isn't stopping BB10 development anytime soon, but they're certainly focusing on the enterprise side of things moving forward. Also, I have good reason to believe that two devices launching later this year, will be running full android. The Oslo (which isn't the silver one that pics leaked of about a month ago, that one is actually codenamed Dallas and will launch with 10.3.2.2xxx at the end of June) is another variation of the Passport. It's all black with rounded corners and supposedly running full Android, with the hub, BBM, and probably contacts and calendar apps baked in, and I would think, access to Google Play Services. I believe this could be Chen's new solution to the app gap that he mentioned not too long ago. And the other device would obviously be the slider, therefore making it pretty much an S6 with a slide out keyboard and the hub, and whatever other BlackBerry apps they want to throw in. I personally think it's a great idea, focus on consumers with Android because it's easier and eliminates the app gap altogether, and leave BB10 for those of us that are more security oriented and don't care whether or not they have Snapchat. Of course I can't prove any of this, and I'm only going on information that I've been told, but I guess time will tell.
    I believe so

I think it's going to be the Porsche Design Passport. Since all the specs are same as the original Passport. BlackBerry PD Passport! Sounds cool

Chen had done a great job of cutting down on the leaks... both on hardware and software. (or there isn't much to leak)

Maybe he'll have a real Slider to show off at the Investors meeting.

Hoping this comes to Africa, while we did get the Original Passport, it was just a little to expensive for the average person. A device around the $399 - $449 area would do well

There was actually a special for I think 239/249 rand a month for the passport on Vodacom's flexi 200 (so 200 rand airtime). Till the 7th /06

Edit: Sorry I assumed you were from South Africa.
