There is am important step he missed. After making a back up and closing link unplug and turn the phone completely off. Run the autoloader. When it says "Connect to bootrom" plug in your phone and turn it on. After a bit the autoloader will recognize your device and restart it. Don't touch either until the loader says done and closes itself. Hope this helps

    BlackBerry Z10 | Verizon |
I didn't miss anything. I never turn my phone off, or disconnect and reconnect. Where did you learn that from?

New folks, pleeeeease stop pointing out that I may have missed "something". Check my background here, not my post count. I can unbrick your phone remotely. Don't let my model picture fool you. Sheesh

This is the best leaked os for me as of now... thanks for sharing op. its really smooth. Battery? I'm sure its going to be efficient on it because I'm only going to use 4g signal (not lte).

For those who are going to attempt to load this leak but isn't sure what to do first, here's my suggestion.

1st - do it at your own risk.

2nd - download the "sms backup" app from blackberry App World, and back up your entire sms. (move the saved file to your sd card so its safe when the phone wipes itself) this will be the 2nd/3rd backup in case anything goes bad.

3rd - backup your phone via BlackBerry Link.

4th - close "blackberry link ", unzip and run the autoloader as administrator (run as administrator).
----autoloader is the thing on the thread and yes you should download it if you haven't-----

5th - wipe phone (aka evil reset) on your phone after os reload gets done. Go settings, security and privacy, security wipe and wait for it to complete.

6th - complete setup and re assign blackberry id.

7th - open blackberry link (if it doesn't open automatically) and restore the backup you just made.

8th - (if sms restore fails) use the "sms backup " app to reload the sms files... located the backup file where you saved it.

9th - stick your head outside your window and yell "yeah!!!" (and must be loud).

10th - say ty to the op and the source, if you know who.

Not true. I always full restore after I install all my android apps first
The restore actually puts back all my data on the android apps too Including all the game progress
Your statement is true about the pre-10.1 updates (though I think even 10.0 did it too).
PB sideloaded apps wouldn't work if you restore
That's in your case. Not all cases are your case. I've experienced Android player errors because of corrupt App Data from a back up. Wiped, restored, and reloaded the full back up to confirm. Did a separate restore, to confirm. App Data was the culprit in my case.

BB Protect has been one of the safest ways to restore without issues. I keep a backup on pc, though Link, and one locally on sd. Password keeper info is stored in the "settings" backup. I usually just restore that only.
Hey, can you please clarify about BB Protect? Are you referring to being able to backup/restore on your 9810? Or your Z10?

When I last checked (now, on .2354) BB Protect no longer backs up any device data for BB 10. It only gives the remote lock, locate (etc.). I really wish that it did backup select data. (The only data I need to restore after loading a leak is my PW Keeper data and browser bookmarks.)

I am restoring now, after installing 4543. I'm a sucker to try the new stuff, too. I had just finished that 4537 yesterday. Overnight (I work nights), I had horrible drain while playing Angry Birds Space during my break. I wound up recharging it when it gave me that low battery signal. Everything else that I use seemed fine, though. Will let you know, about this time tomorrow, how this 4543 does overnight (at work).

Well, too bad, but neither of the .45xx leaks play well with my phone. With both of them I could not restore text message, had bluetooth connection issues with my car, and the time zone in the calender kept resetting to a different zone. Oh well, back to 2062.

Anxiously waiting for the next leak!!!

.4543 is better than .4537. This leak is snappier. Battery life in .4543 seems to be better than .4537's.

Here is how I did it.

1- Download and save the file before extracting it. Install BB link before connecting z10 to a computer. Turn on z10 before connecting it to your computer.
2- Open the command prompt in win8 with admin privilege.
3- Run the file and let it do its thing.
4- After seeing "done" in the command prompt, unplug z10 from the computer. z10 should be on right now
5- Go through setup. Reinstall apps and games. Change the phone settings.

well... interesting development on my side. Loaded it up and went to set everything up. Sideloaded a couple apps after I did my security wipe and all my android apps are in japanese :/ I have an unlocked Verizon Z10 STL100-4 running on Docomo here in Japan. I'm doing another security wipe and I'll be removing my sim and trying it all that way. Hopefully it works.

So BB Protect is actually backing up our BB 10 devices after all? Wow. BlackBerry's documentation is misleading, then. When I login to the BB Protect site, it shows all my legacy device backups. But when I go to the Z10 > My Data, it points to using BB Link to backup/restore data.

I'm in the middle of a wipe now in preparation to loading up .4543. I'll try restoring from BB Protect when it's time. If that works, I'll be a happy camper!

    Thanks Mecca!

I couldn't resist the temptation to rush into another upgrade to within hours after my successful upgrade to which had a few notable enhancements. Both upgrades ran fairly quickly (about 3 minutes from initial install to reboot) and then about another 10 minutes to complete setup. Restoring either a backup or doing a fresh reinstallation of all apps takes the most time (1 or 2 hours) but that depends on the choice taken from here. I usually go for the backup/restore option which is less time-consuming. So far, I haven't noticed anything significant in but it's running quite smoothly. I guess there are good reasons for the release and I will share whatever I could find. In the meantime, I will be looking out to see the observations of other forum members.

I avoid using BB link to backup or restore data on my phone because it's unreliable. I manually reconfigure my phone and reinstall apps and games after installing a new OS. If I want to download apps or games faster, I go to a local coffee shop to do it because they have the fastest wifi connection in the area. I can download 3GB data under 35 minutes at this coffee shop. Of course, I pay a few bucks for soft drink and FREE wifi connection.
