Ordered the wife a Z yesterday and curious if I dump a leak onto it before setting up with the carrier OS will it cause a problem?

Nope. No issues whatsoever. But I say let her use 10.1 for two days and then get her on 10.2 just to see how she reacts. hehe

^This and to see if she really wants to make the move. I personally never had an issue os wise or phone wise until i updated to .1443. Luckily, .1725 fixed that for me

I would think she will like the phone even more if you update first, hand her a great device.

Yea sure, wait and let her play with the phone on 10.1. Then after she adds all of her info, upgrade to 10.2. NOT.

When upgrading to 10.2, there's always the chance that restore might not work. Then imagine how she'd feel.

I'd suggest upgrading the phone to the 10.2.0.xxxx before you give it to her.

Yeah I would rather update before she started using it especially so since 1743 is working really good on mine.

Wish we could have held out until the Z30 was released but God knows when Verizon is going to do that

I'd say update first. If she starts getting used to the phone, she'll find it different enough to be frustrating all over again.

Update first. Let her experience it the way it should have been at launch.

If you use cloud for contacts and calendar, let her get used to the device as factory then upgrade... If converting from legacy you may want to upgrade before getting everything setup. Either way I would say make sure basic functions work before loading a leak. Bad advice to throw on a leak before testing hardware, as we have seen not everyone has the same experience with the leaks.

This is just my personal experience from a tech/troubleshooting aspect, if the device is never used on official software you may end up with a headache in trouble shooting issues.

    Update for future search.
Pulled unit out of box, installed battery, and installed 1743 without first doing a factory setup. Z has worked without issue.

I would load the leak it's best to have it settled in the device and grab the unlocked android run time too! whom ever came up with this should be Crowned King or Queen lol

Load the leak!!! .1725 and. 1743 are great and the unlocked runtime if you need android apps is awesome if you don't prefer the debug token method. When we got our z-10's I loaded 10.1 right away cause of the restarts and then when 10.2 started showing up I used them first as a guinea pig incase something bad happened lol

She is still getting used to it. She had been using a 9650 for the 4 years and she isn't crazy about BB10 yet.

Downloaded Neutron music player last night because the factory music player is horrible
