    oh thanks for testing.

    Another question.
Is this new IME using internal memoryj's kanji database to change hiragana to kanji i guess? (as oppose to other japanese IME
which you need internet connection in order to select kanji.)

Meaning you don't need internet connection when you use hiragana kanji conversion?

I have Q10. Now i installed 1055 and finally enjoy writing Japanese in text.
Overall writing Japanese is fast and easy but still need to improve abit.
    1. I don't know how to write Japanese comma (kutouten) and period(touten) instead it shows only alphabet comma and period.
    2. Even in Q10 when selecting words you still have to tap on words on screen.
That is awkward for somebody using Japanese IME on PC everyday.
It should allow user to switch between words by shift key.
    3. Switching between English and Japanese are not as easy as 9900.

I think somebody have to copy the way 9900 Japanese input works.
But I am very happy with BB's move to put Japanese input in OS10.
I am sure they will improve further.

Thank you to whoever made this happen.

Japanese Input arrives on BB10...anyone know how to install on prev version OS?-img_00000001.png

That's really odd. For the Z10 you can change between the English or Japanese punctuation. All I did was press the globe icon

Switching between english and japanese for Q10 is alt + Enter.
but timing of pressing is little tricky.
    Alt first and enter....
There is no globe icon or 全角 for Q10.

    hi yoroshiku and others,

when you type in romaji, the word will stay in english characters until you press space or choose the hiragana/kanji in the list right? I don't like that so much, legacy blackberry it types in hiragana and you choose kanji/katakana if needed. What do you think of the new style?

The IME apps were the same way. Personally I don't think it slows me down in any way, just a slightly different way of inputting the text.

Hi akhenatongup, usually for Japanese IME you can choose romaji or hiragana or katakana when you enter words.
But this one in language setting default layout is Romaji only, you cannot choose.
i don't like it either because even if we are wrting plain hiranaga you still have to choose between words such as desu.
I feel lke if they can do it for 9900 why not for OS10 to select hiragana input.

Japanese input is operational on my Z10 with OS 10.2.1.845 . . . although I cannot make any phone call.
    P.S.

Yes, you can theoretically also use that same radio on 10.2.1.845 but since 10.2.1.1055 is available and already has the radio file incorporated to it, it would make more sense to use that.

At the time of the initial postings, there was no radio file which would work with 10.2.1.845, although now that we can use 10.2.1.1055, it's not an issue anymore.

Only thing is we need to tap word on screen to choose word.
Like 9900, it had been better to choose word by pressing shift key..
Hey Yoroshiku, One of the major concerns you had with Japanese input on BlackBerry 10 is now taken care of, just letting you know that it's been improved
